Each year close to the USMC Birthday a private party gathers to celebrate in the Gray Ghost Tavern as in 1775 the USMC was formed at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia. The food is awesome - the best Prime Rib I've ever had. The owners are gracious and it is always excellent to gather with Marines who have fought in all... More

Outstanding Thanksgiving meal for our family with excellent service, friendly outgoing staff and a lovely setting. Very pleased with the experience. Not a cheap meal, but more than 6 courses prepared with care made it a special occasion for the holiday.

My husband and I were visiting the Holy Cross Abbey for a silence and prayer personal retreat. Our expectations were fairly simple--a clean room and AC would be nice (not required). Deliberately keeping it simple. After a knock out lunch at the Battletown Restaurant, the owner offered us a room at the Inn. Our plans went from simple and laid... More

Our kids gave us a gift certificate for a Christmas gift. We are less B&B and more hotel people but were so plesantly surprised! Making the reservation was easy. James, the owner, couldn't have been more accommodating when I told him there was a possible family emergency pending. Christine, also the owner was wonderful when we checked in. She took... More

My get away was supposed to be a romantic couples birthday treat. My partner was unable to come last minute. Rather than canceling, I decided to go solo. I was welcomed and treated like a queen! I had a fabulous time!! My room, #12 I think, was a full-size four poster bed with a gigantic jacuzzi, The owners James and... More

Every now and then, to perserve my sanity, I leave the Washington, DC area for the Shenanadoah Valley. I enjoy participating in religious services at Holy Cross Abbey in Berryville, VA and whenever I can I stay at the Battletown Inn right in the heart of Berryville. This is a very pleasant place that is owned and operated by two... More

My favorite in the evening is the tavern, where you can get the sandwich menu. Inexpensive, yet good food. They were also very accommodating when I needed to plan a last-minute event for 100 people and very reasonably priced. Love the food, love the staff, love the management.

I didn't actually have the chance to stay here due to some schedule conflicts, but I had a really pleasant experience with the owner, he was very understanding about a reservation mishap. I will definitely be visiting this Inn when my boyfriend moves back to the area!!

My husband and I had dinner there and it was wonderful. The Inn was decorated for the holidays and was lovely. I had the shrimp and grits which were delicious while my husband had the crab cakes. He would definitely order them again. The same goes for the shrimp and grits. We had been to the Inn several times for... More

My husband and I stayed at the Battletown Inn at the end of October 2012 for 1 night and we enjoyed our stay. Our room was clean and comfortable and the inn was quiet. The innkeeper James and his wife are very friendly and personable. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was better than I expected, it... More
