If you are looking for older, dirty accomodations, this place is for you. While the restaurant staff was fine, and the food so-so, the facilities were awful. Carpets had not been cleaned in who knows how long, soap wrapper had mold inside when unwrapped, bathtub and tile were nasty. Had a glass of wine in the bar and the wine... more

We recently stayed at the Peaks of Otter Lodge during a stay to visit family. It was so beautiful to have a lake view with Sharp Top Mountain in the background. However, I must warn anyone with motion sickness to beware the road coming in to the lodge. We had to travel several Virginia Byways to get there, and by... more

The lodge is in a peaceful, lovely setting. It's a good place to stay when hiking in the area or when traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway. The rooms are average and the pillows are hard and uncomfortable. We've stayed here twice before this time and the service is polite although not always efficient. The dining room has mediocre food but... more

A friend and I stayed 1 night early June to hike Sharp Top. We decided to stay in June (rather than May) because someone at the Lodge gave us incorrect information. Aside from that, as other reviewers have said, the area is very scenic (buggy too), great hiking trails, the Lodge rooms are clean and quiet, comfortable beds, cinder block... more

This is in a beautiful location at 2500 ft. elevation in the mountains with a view of Sharp Top Mountain. There is a lake on the property but it was unexpectedly totally drained when we stayed. The place is rustic and the rooms and bathrooms are somewhat dated. We were expecting a large common room with a wood fireplace burning.... more

Stayed overnight while driving along Blue Ridge Parkway. There is a main building which houses the restaurant, bar, lounge & shops. Accommodation in rustic two storey buildings all facing a beautiful lake. No tvs, no phones, cell phones don't work. It was so peaceful. We were on lower floor with a little terrace and then lawns and the lake. The... more

The Lodge was very nice, and had breathtaking views. The food was quite good and well priced. There are no tvs or phone in the rooms, so this makes a nice escape. more

The Peaks of Otter Lodge is definitely in a beautiful, serene location. The rooms are meant to mimic a cabin-like atmosphere with no television or telephone. There is not even an alarm clock or radio in the room. All that is fine if that's what you're looking for--except that cell phones don't work in that part of the mountains. If... more

We just returned from a 4 night stay at the Lodge. It was all good.I have read some of the previous reviews and feel that some people had misguided expectations. Some folks were just passing thru and felt it was over-priced - if so they should have stayed at a Motel 6 or an EconoLodge , this is more of a "destination... more

After reading glowing reviews about this lodge in several travel books, we made a reservation since we had a long way to go down the Blue Ridge Parkway. After staying there we understand why reviewers are in love with the view out the room window and on the small but adequate balconies: a lake with a perfect mountain backdrop. The... more
