I drove in wanting lunch. The dining room was booked but the maître d'hôtel was most helpful despite being very busy. I went to the Tasting Room which was extremely busy and the sound level was torture with echoes of so many people enjoying visits with wine tasting. On to the Library which was quiet and has a lovely view.... More

The Inn is a very peaceful and beautiful place to stay. It is quite historic and kept wonderfully clean. The ladies running it were very friendly. Pretty any time of year and an excellent restaurant on the premises to compliment the included breakfast.

My husband treated me to an overnight stay at Barboursville for Valentine's Day on the advice of a friend and it surpassed both of our expectations. Cozy warm cottage to ourselves with a fire laid for our arrival and chilling bottle if wine with cheese and fruit, magical setting in the foothills of the mountains on a property whose main... More

We visited right after New years Day and had advance notice that the Palladio restaurant was going to be closed during our stay. So no report on the restaurant. Right from the very first phone call I knew that this was going to be done right. After an extensive look at all the accommodations on the 1804 website I had... More

I had no idea how quaint, picturesque and comfortable the accommodations would be. It had so much elegant charm and was the most relaxing stay I have had anywhere in Virginia. I would highly recommend staying here over anywhere else in the region. The staff was great and our every need was anticipated including a bottle of delicious Barboursville wine.... More

When we learned that Palladio would be closed on a Tuesday night, we discussed whether we should bother staying at this very charming but not inexpensive Inn. We decided to go ahead anyway. We knew that we didn't want to drive after dark so we planned ahead and brought a picnic dinner from Southern Season and Sally Bell's in Richmond.... More

We stayed in one of the cottages. Beautiful surroundings. The daily breakfast deliveries were great but could have been varied a little more. It was perfect with the exception of two flaws. There was NO internet connection, which really impacted us, as we were planning local travel and sightseeing. Also, the bed was very uncomfortable. It was peaceful and private. The wine... More

My wife and I were fortunate to receive from a friend a gift certificate to stay in the Sangiovese cottage. What a wonderful weekend away! The cottage is lovely, the staff are just that right mix of helpful and close but far enough to feel a sense of splendid isolation. Barboursville is a great location to visit various locations in... We stayed three nights at the Pinot Grigio Suite in Blue Run Cottage on the grounds of the 1804 Inn. We also dined twice at Palladio (which was also wonderful-- a separate review). The suite was tastefully decorated and relaxed; it felt like staying at the country home of a good friend. The style is part northern Italian, part traditional... More

We stayed in the Moscato Suite at 1804 Inn taking advantage of their Friday special with Palladio Restaurant. The suite was nicely appointed and the decor was warm and inviting. Karen gave us a quick tour of the Inn itself and then helped us get settled in our suite. She was very friendly and helpful. Lisa is also very helpful... More
