It just seems run down. Great location within a short walk of the base lodge and village at Stratton Mountain. The 'complimentary' breakfast was a joke. They had 3 bagels out for the 4 of us. The rooms are very average at best. No fridge or coffee maker. Service was very friendly and helpful. Sauna is weak, pool area is... More

First off, it was cheap, no complaints there. The rooms clearly had been upgraded recently and the staff was super friendly and helpful but that's where things stop. This place is a 70's hotel with a little makeup. The breakfast included was laughable. There were 4 of us, when we arrived at 8:30 there were 3 bagels for us to... More

Online this place looks great ... in reality ... not so much. Maybe when the US economy tanked a few years ago the new owners' great plans to revamp just failed to materialize. It definitely has potential ... but I think that some of the furnishings date back to the late 1970s. There have been some obvious attempts at renovations,... More

We were very excited for our first trip to Vermont. The state did not dissapoint but the hotel sure did. They did make sure we got a first floor room as requested but the fridge we asked for was not in the room. Luckily they were quick to bring it. The staff was very friendly and made sure we had... We were so excited to be going to Vermont for a little getaway. We chose Black Bear Lodge and picked a room with a mountain view! It was 375 (450 with taxes and fees) for our 3 night stay--no mountain view. Needless to say I was pretty upset to pay so much to have a mountain view room only to... More

We just returned from a weekend package my wife purchases through Travel Zoo. From the moment we arrived the front desk staff were phenomenal. They were happy to help get us settled in, offered great restaurant advice and steered us to some great hiking. But most if all they put the "H" in hospitality. We both felt that they all... More

The Hotel itself is a decent hotel. It is clean and relatively updated. The issue I had with them was their daily maid service. They would start banging on peoples doors at 8am and identifying themselves. It sounded like they were yelling "HOUSE KEEPING", but most likely the walls are just thin and they want to make sure people hear... More

We booked a trip through Travel Zoo for the weekend. Beautiful area in VT. The entryway and lobby was nice as well as the staff. I was a little disappointed with the rest of the hotel...well I would call it a motel. (maybe 4 floors) It did not have an elevator, which was no problem for us, but the stairway... More

We stayed here while riding the Vermont Challenge a 4 day point to point bike ride. The room was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed in the far right "wing" beyond the hot tub. There are no elevators but the short flight of stairs was not an issue for us.

The room and bathroom were fine, and it was quiet (3rd floor). The bed was comfortable, and the kids enjoyed the hot tub. There was a continental breakfast included. Some dust. A broken lock on the window. View of a parking lot. No elevator. If the price is right, and you plan to spend your time skiing (or enjoying the... More
