There are better places to stay in Stratton, I'm sure. But if you are on a budget, this one is just fine. We were there in August when things are pretty quiet. It's probably more fun in the winter. The hot tub is really nice, but the shower in our room took FOREVER to heat up. My big beef: if... More

This place is desolate in August despite the golf school. It is relatively clean, and the staff is friendly. I am sure that as a ski hotel it is fine. As a summer spot, it is worn and dated. The snow outside would cover the exterior and as a ski lodge it is probably acceptable as a lower end place.

Lodging at the Black Bear Lodge was fine - not great, but just fine. The room was clean, the amenities ok and the promised view was like a back yard with people in the yard and just below the balconies. The chairs in the room are more like dining chairs, so no relaxation except in bed. Very small flat screens.... More

We stayed 1 night in August. Room was spacious and clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Location was key, walkable to the village. Restaurant had limited dinner menu but we arrived late and it was raining so we opted to eat in the on site restaurant; the burger we got was excellent. The bartender poured a good drink.

If you're looking for a cheap place to stay while you're driving route 100 then this place is fine. The rooms are quite spacious and the bathrooms are clean. Continental breakfast was included (bagels, breads, granola, yoghurt, Danishes, juices and coffee/tea) and was quite nice. There is a games room which you need quarters for and also a hot tub... We stayed here as part of a Princess Land/Cruise tour. We originally were scheduled for the Princess Lodge but were shifted here. We think we got the better deal. By far the nicest room we stayed in during our trip. The location wasn't the best(is there a nice location in Fairbanks?) but there was a free hop on hop off... More

When we first got there, we were very excited with how beautiful the Stratton Resort was as a whole. Great downtown area that they created with a very cool bar (Bar 802), little shops, and different restaurants. We checked in and the woman Megan at the front desk was more than helpful, friendly, and accommodating to us. She went over... More

Dated yet clean, this hotel is in need of some paint and some TLC. But the rooms were fine, beds comfortable and the staff was very nice. Breakfast wasn't the sprawling buffet I was led to believe on check in but it was a small assortment of bagels, danish and yogurt. All in all, if you can get a good... More

Was doing a Tough Mudder in Vermont and needed a reasonably priced, not too far from Mount Snow place to stay. Black Bear was a good value for our needs, we stayed two nights over the course of a weekend. The place is large, though we didn't get to see all of it. The lobby has ample seating, like couches... Attended a conference here. It did not bother me but a colleague with a large suitcase noted that the lack of elevators was an issue for her. Rooms on the lowest floor below the front desk feel like they are in a walk out basement and therefore do not afford much natural light. Windows are small and up high. Fitness... More
