I loved this original inn because of it's character. It's not fancy but the old wood beams and low ceilings add charm to the place. Very nice indoors and outdoors pool area and pool side dining area. If you like traditional alpine ski chalet motif this is the place for you. Dinner was very good, but I'd skip breakfast, however... More

Whoever calls this hotel "cozy or quaint" need their heads examined. Shabby. Tiny room. Tiny bathroom. Carpet filthy, stains all over it, bed uncomfortable, flowery wallpaper right out of the 50's, made me nauseous. Stayed 3 nights, no hot water coming out of shower, seems to have been blocked between the tub tap and the shower. Complained first morning, next... More

Very cozy environment with lots of fireplaces throughout the lodge and, after skiing there is no need to go anywhere else to eat because the downstairs bar and restaurant serve delicious meals. Breakfasts are plentiful, too. The lodge has a scenic view of the ski mountain, and the entire location is attractive.

My husband, daughter, and I stayed there for a weekend on a Groupon deal. Very quaint, classic ski lodge feel. The staff was very nice, check-in and check-out were easy. As other reviews stated, it is in dire need of updating, it's old and showing its age. Everything seemed very clean, but just old. Carpets are worn and stained in... More

Booked a one night stay very last minute (to take advantage of the 2 FEET of snow that just fell) and received a great rate which included a hearty breakfast. This inn oozes 1950's ski lodge charm and I wouldn't change a thing! I'm so tired of gas fireplaces in the wall, infinity edge swimming pools, polished stainless everything and... More

My husband and I just returned from a 3-day stay at this charming country inn. During our stay, almost 2 feet of snow fell. The innkeepers were fantastic, driving us to and from the shuttle stop. Non-skiers were also quite happy nestled in the inn. Each room is unique but all are charming. Emily's Restaurant at the inn serves delicious... More

This is our second time in one year that we visited it and it was great! The front desk lady is a trip! We did have a groupon and was stuck in the room above the kitchen so it wasn't quiet... Next time we will bring a fan! The staff in the bar was fantastic and food was amazing. Be... More

This place is quaint, but on our last night there I was bit by a bedbug: nightmare!! Walls are thin, parking lot is treacherous in winter. It took 25 minutes to check out because there were three of us and only one staff person at the desk.

Thank you very much for your appreciation of the unique design and feel of the Inn. It is indeed “quaint.” We are sorry to hear that the checkout process was delayed. This unusually cold winter most certainly caused havoc throughout the eastern United States and our parking lot as well. We have seriously and intensely addressed your claim that you... More

We reserved a room for weekend stay with friends (4 person in total). Book and pay online with confirmation. Once arrived for the check-in, we've been charged for 64$ for the 2 extra people. According to what we've been told, EVEN if you reserve online for 4, pay for 4, and get confirmed for 4, you are then supposed to... More

We are very sorry that your stay was an "awful experience" due to the two additional guest fees. We will make sure that they are more predominately displayed and require less reading. For future reference additional fees are identified in all booking correspondence and are alluded to in our rates. "All rates are based on double occupancy." The fee is... More

We have stayed here three times prior and enjoy it every time. It sounds like the issues are with the lowest priced, 'ski bum' rooms. In the past we have always stayed in the classic rooms but got a great deal on a traditional room (the next grade down) and went with that. It was great though not quite as... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Stowehof Inn is one of the last classic alpine inns in ski country. Steeped in classic decor and the site of Alan Alda's movie "Four Seasons", the inn represents the eclectic beginnings of America's love affair with Austrian alpine design and skiing. Built in the late 40's the Stowehof sits on a 30 acre estate looking up on the ski trails of the Stowe Ski Resort. ... more   less
