This was our second time visiting and it was as awesome as the first time. We stayed in a different room and it was as quaintly decorated as the other. Nice, clean, comfortable room lending to abpeaceful and an enjoyable stay. What can I say about the delicious breakfast? And hospitable owners? Two thumbs up. Only 3 minutes from mountain.... More

Bill and Carolyn were friendly, flexible, and overall great hosts. Don't expect the Ritz Carlton, but the location was great for skiing and only a few minutes from the center of Stowe. It is a great little B&B with good breakfast and a great jacuzzi for after skiing!

We stayed overvtgr New Years weekend in their 2 bedroom suite. The room was spacious and clean. It had a large deck off the main bedroom with a view of the woods. The owner Bill was very friendly and cooked a fantastic breakfast each morning. It rained the last day and Bill let us back in hours after we checked... More

This place is what I remember as a young boy sking with my parents. The owner, Bill, is a great guy, friendly and accommodating. The establishment is older, but quaint and quiet. For under $150 per night with a breakfast you can get what you need here (and it's 5 mins from the mountain). Stoweflake and the other overpriced places... More

I stayed here the second weekend in October. First impression was the ominous musty smell much like that of a nursing home when you first walk in. Mix it with dirty dusty socks left in a corner is exactly what this placed smelled like. Advise to keep looking and steer clear.

I was desperate looking for a room last week as I had driven over 8 hours and every hotel was full. I went to the internet and found one room here for $275. I took it rather than sleep in the car. The place is very old and run down, Needs cleaning and paint. The sheets on the bed did... More

Get beyond the first impression! Outside looks a little rough. Inside is typical ski lodge atmosphere. Room was comfortable and clean. Bill is a consumate host and cooks an awesome breakfast. We enjoyed the quiet and conversations with Bill. Good value in the off season.

My teenage son was playing in a recent lacrosse tournament in Stowe, Vermont and we were desperate for lodging. After hours of searching, I was thrilled to finally find a room at the Bear's Lair. Having read the reviews, I was cautiously optimistic for our stay. Unfortunately, this Bed and Breakfast was possibly the worst B&B I've ever visited. The... More

I have stayed at Bears Lair Inn two winters now and am slated to go back the third time this winter. Bill and Carolyn have been great hosts and breakfasts are awesome and a great fill before hitting the slopes. The rooms are super cozy and quiet and ambience is just great for evening drinks and cookies. I highly recommend... More

This was a lovely place to stay. Very quiet and clean. No TV in the room, which makes for a nice relaxing night. Breakfast was outstanding. Exterior is deceiving, as is in need of some repairs, but don't let that turn you away. The inside is nicely done in a quaint - remember when we were kids - kind of... More
