My teenage son was playing in a recent lacrosse tournament in Stowe, Vermont and we were desperate for lodging. After hours of searching, I was thrilled to finally find a room at the Bear's Lair. Having read the reviews, I was cautiously optimistic for our stay. Unfortunately, this Bed and Breakfast was possibly the worst B&B I've ever visited. The... More

I have stayed at Bears Lair Inn two winters now and am slated to go back the third time this winter. Bill and Carolyn have been great hosts and breakfasts are awesome and a great fill before hitting the slopes. The rooms are super cozy and quiet and ambience is just great for evening drinks and cookies. I highly recommend... More

This was a lovely place to stay. Very quiet and clean. No TV in the room, which makes for a nice relaxing night. Breakfast was outstanding. Exterior is deceiving, as is in need of some repairs, but don't let that turn you away. The inside is nicely done in a quaint - remember when we were kids - kind of... More

This place is outdated, run down and in desperate need of an Ultimate Home Makeover. While we like our Inns to have character...this one had the wrong kind for sure. When we arrived we almost did not even go inside as the outside house was in need of repair and landscaping was mostly all dead. When the inkeeper showed us... More

After a day of hiking and a late dinner reservation we came back to our room being occupied by someone else. Gone were our toiletries and a pleasent end to a wonderful day in Vermont. The worst part was that our host felt it was perfectly above board to operate a business in this manner. No apologies just outright rudeness.

Booked directly by calling last minute for local sports tournament. Start with the best parts; breakfast was great hot fresh and real maple syrup with everything. Staff was very friendly and homey but a bit disorganized. Rooms were very clean and tidy with a comfy bed and its own bathroom. Check-in was a total guess at what to do although... More

I am an avid traveler, and never has any person, let alone an older man talked to me with such disrespect. Due to an unexpected and very unfortunate emergency I immediately after checking in had to leave. I understand cancelation fees and ect, so I was expecting to pay full price for a room that I just barely walked into... More

This guesthouse, about 5 miles outside Stowe on the mountain road, is a lovely, warm and friendly place to stay. The decor is a little fussy for my taste, but our room was large with two big, comfortable beds and although we were the only guests that night, Bill made sure we felt welcome and cared for. The homemade breakfast... More

Where does one start.....old green carpet.vinyl stick on contact paper on fake beams. No furniture that matched. A hideous messy and cluttered kitchen with piles of "stuff" everywhere. This must be true VT country charm. However our host was nice. If the driveway entry lights had bulbs or were turned on it might be able to find entrance.
