I have visited two other B and B's in the area and would definitely visit this one again. It is an immense, unique property. I did not feel like I was living on top of other guests and got a good nights rest. The rooms were some of the cleanest I have come across, and the staff taking care of... More

My husband and I just spent a few days at Hartness House, having booked a romantic package. We stayed in the James Hartness suite, which was lovely. A well-appointed sitting room, with a bedroom separated by charming glass doors. After my husband and I arrived and were setting up, Alla brought us in a cheese/fruit platter, which was very thoughtful.... More

We stayed one night in this amazing house, home to a Vermont governor and inventor - a treasure trove of astronomy history (basement museum). We were upgraded to a huge king size bed suite! Friendly folk were very welcoming. Tasty breakfast... Great place to come with friends for hiking or foliage!

Marc and I were arriving late at night and we were welcomed warmly by the Owner and to our delight, we had been upgraded from a hotel style room in the rear of the property to "Lena's Room" in the main house. This room was just lovely, comfortable and wonderfully furnished and decorated. There was so many little touches in... More

The antiques and beautiful woodwork throughout the B£B added to the quaint charm of the Inn. The staff was friendly and the food in the tavern was excellent. There was coffee and hot tea available at all times which was great. The front and back covered porches were wonderful for relaxing with friends in the evening, it is also pet... More

Sad, disappointing experience. I read the good reviews before we went and find it hard to believe that the people who rated it "excellent" stayed at the same place we did. I read the bad reviews after we returned from our trip and found that our experience was similar to those people who rated the inn as "terrible". Their reviews... More

We chose the Hartness House for a one night stop over on an extended driving trip through Vermont. We stayed in the main house and were pleased that our room selection had beeen upgraded to a small suite. The room was clean, nicely appointed, and the bathroom had appropriate amenities. Breakfast was more than adequate, although we were asked to... More

My wife and I were married at the Hartness House in April 2014. Our home state of Texas does not support same-sex marriage, so after researching multiple destinations, we finally decided on the Hartness House for our wedding. We chose one of the elopement packages and it was everything we expected it to be and more. The mansion was beautifully... More

I loved staying here. It is a wonderful old mansion that has been converted into a hotel with dining. The interior has wonderful antiques and pictures and furnishings. My mother and I purchase one of their packages and couldn't have been more pleased. When we got there we were greeted with and upgrade of our room. Breakfast and dinner and... More

I regularly have dinner at the Hartness House. I love it. The Russian menu is especially good. I have tried the Chicken Kiev, Salmon Kuleybeka, and Beef Stroganoff. All I can say is excellent. Even the vegetables are done perfectly and delicious. I would certainly recommend going to the Hartness House for dinner you can't get a nicer meal and... More
