Our office had been going to the Hartness House for 15-20 years. The property was always beautifully decorated and well kept. The local Garden Club would come in and decorate for Christmas with over 10 trees in the dining areas. It really put you in the spirit of the holidays to be in such a magical place.About 5 years ago... More

For our 2014 Christmas party we choose the Hartness House. We had a great experience at the charming inn. The new inn keepers were very personable and knowledgeable about the property. It was their first day on the grounds and you would have never known by the beautifully decorated building. I am excited to see the inn progress as they... More

My spouse and I stayed at the Hartness House for 2 nights starting on 12/12/2014. We were attending the wedding of a very good friend. The wedding took place at the inn in front of the fireplace in the main living room. I think the inn is very charming and would be a great place for a wedding or an... More

We stayed this past weekend for our elopement with another couple, followed by a brunch with family the next morning and we're lucky to be the first guests of the new owner. The only decision we had to make the entire weekend was the type of cake and frosting. The new owners bent over backwards to make everything wonderful. The... More

We had the luck of being the first guests of the two new owners for our elopement, followed by a family brunch the next morning. The only decision we had to make the entire weekend was what kind of cake and what kind of frosting, everything else was done for us with care, and the service was incredible. The only... More

I had made a reservation well in advance, but was not successful in reaching them by phone or email after that. When I showed up, they seemed bewildered but accommodated me anyway in a room that was well-appointed but cold. The bed was very comfortable, and I slept well. But it was very hard to find anyone to help me... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your November stay. It is unfortunate your stay was not satisfactory under the previous management. The Hartness House Inn has new management as of December 5th. My spouse and I are excited for the opportunity to bring back the "glory days" of this grand jewel of an Inn. The... More

My wife and I checked in on a Sunday night. The hotel was very quiet, and as far a I could tell there were very few guests. Our check-in went smoothly, and despite the fact that the restaurant was not open, we got some very good dinner recommendations from the lady who checked us in. The room was very large,... More

I have visited two other B and B's in the area and would definitely visit this one again. It is an immense, unique property. I did not feel like I was living on top of other guests and got a good nights rest. The rooms were some of the cleanest I have come across, and the staff taking care of... More

My husband and I just spent a few days at Hartness House, having booked a romantic package. We stayed in the James Hartness suite, which was lovely. A well-appointed sitting room, with a bedroom separated by charming glass doors. After my husband and I arrived and were setting up, Alla brought us in a cheese/fruit platter, which was very thoughtful.... More

We stayed one night in this amazing house, home to a Vermont governor and inventor - a treasure trove of astronomy history (basement museum). We were upgraded to a huge king size bed suite! Friendly folk were very welcoming. Tasty breakfast... Great place to come with friends for hiking or foliage!
