We had the good fortune to spend 2 nights at the Inn. What a delightful experience! The mansion overlooks Lake Champlain. It is beautiful and grand but also warm and comfortable. The staff could not have been more welcoming. We felt like we were staying at the home of friends rather than at a hotel. We took a tour of... More

We only stayed here for one night, but wish we had arranged our trip to enjoy more time here. The grounds are breath-taking, from the view of Lake Champlain to the vistas created by Olmsted. The house is a joy to explore. A jog around the property introduced us to some of the most amazing, historic barns you'll ever come... More

I had heard for years about the beauty of this property, but was still in no way prepared for the reality. The beauty of the grounds, the buildings, and the vistas literally took my breath away. You know you are in for something special when the watchman at the gate advises you that it will be two miles to the... More

My niece is interested in all things Vanderbilt and we have visited many of their mansions. So it was thrilling to be able to stay overnight here. We loved our room (Violet), it felt very grand even though it was on the 3rd floor and was probably used by the children or their nurses (the grander rooms are on the... More

This secret gem is an experience that warrants mention! The staff are exceptional. The surroundings very serene and the philosophy of this property all merge to send you back in time for a restful get away. Make certain you book a meal in the restaurant as the chef's will tantalize you using local and farm items. Read their web page... More

One of the loveliest places I've ever stayed in; old elegance but warm and welcoming. The inn invites one to enjoy spending time in comfort and a wonderful setting; lake views, great walking paths and the home, itself, make for a memorable experience.

We stayed at the Inn at Shelburne Farms for only one night with our two children ages 8 and 4. I was initially concerned that such an elegant and historic property wouldn't feel comfortable for a young family, but the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. The four of us fit comfortably in one room with the help of two... More

Shelburne Farm Inn has managed to keep the features and charm of the country house of the late 19th century. We had a vast and elegant room overlooking the lake and there was no problem putting in an extra bed in the room for our son. There are pleasant walks all around the grounds and along the lake.

The Inn is a former summer home of the Vanderbilts and part of Shelburne Farm, which now operates as a nonprofit education centre, with proceeds from the Inn and restaurant going towards the preservation of the centre and grounds. This goes some way towards lessening the pain of the hefty price tag! My partner and I stayed one night in... More

I have reviewed this inn in previous years and the comments I made in October 2013 generally still apply to this review of our October 2014 visit. We always look forward to staying here and it is usually at the end of our annual foliage time visit to New England and Vermont. We keep this inn until last because the... More
