Many others have waxed on about the Inn's striking location and beautiful views, and I fully agree: the setting is stunning. The Inn's main building, a vintage private house, oozes rustic Gilded Age atmosphere. The Inn is part of the expansive Shelburne Farms complex, and is about a five-mile drive outside Burlington. We recently had a one-night stay in the... More

Wow what can I say except this place blew us away. It was so nice. We were in the Pink Room which was quite large. Others have reported on the history of this Inn so I won't go into that again other than to say it was a privilege to stay in such a historic place. The bed was only... More

I had stayed for one night at the Inn at Shelburne Farms several years ago on the drive between Boston and Montreal, and was impressed enough that I made plans to return. My wife and I and our 19 year old son stayed five days over the Fourth of July holiday, first in the Lilac room and then in adjoining... More

We have traveled to many places in and outside the US, and the Inn at Shelburne Farms is unique and extraordinary. Built as a late 19th century mansion on Lake Champlain, with grounds designed by Frederick Law Olmstead (the designer of Central Park), this magnificent Inn manages to be elegant, warm, grand, and welcoming all at the same time. And... More

My husband and I stayed at Shelburne Farms for the first time last week, and we enjoyed every minute! The inn, as you probably know, is the former mansion of Seward and Lila (Vanderbilt) Webb. We were amazed to be welcomed to touch and use all of the original furniture, books and household items. The house is lovely and so... More

I can't wait for a return and longer stay at the Inn at Shelburne Farms. With a retreat-like atmosphere, the Inn encourages decompressing and access to the outdoors while also offering incredible amenities (like afternoon tea, morning coffee and cubbies with blankets for cool times and beach towels for warmer days). The shared spaces include a phenomenal library and the... More

This is a very special place to stay. Set in landscaped grounds on the edge of Lake Champlain it could not be more perfectly situated. The inn still retains its original furnishings and fittings so you feel as if you have stepped back into the Gilded Age and you can relax into elegant luxury. To sit on the lawn looking... More

The Inn at Shelburne Farms is superb! Our stay was was perfect on so many levels! The bucolic drive through the farm is beautiful - scenes of sheep and the brown Swiss cows grazing in the fields and so much green - mountains everywhere! The Inn is an impressive and historic building. We stayed in the Rose Room which was... More

This is probably the most beautiful place I have ever stayed at. I felt like I was staying at a historical museum but without the velvet ropes to keep you from touching things. I loved that the staff just let you do what you wanted and trusted the guests to have free roam of the place. I noticed that when... More
