The Inn at Shelburne Farms is stunning. We stayed in Lila Vanderbilt Webb's room and it was majestic with the stunning view over the rolling lawn and the lake. A very comfortable and spacious room. As an architecture and history buff, it was a real treat to be able to wander the house after hours, to not only be able... More

Stayed for a weekend several years back and were literally blown away by the beauty of the grounds and charm of the historic mansion. Will most definitely return! If you are looking for a calm and majestic respite from the 21st century, this is it!

This was perhaps the best place we stayed during our month-long east coast vacation. The lodgings are in a large, historic mansion with a variety of rooms, some en suite, some not and gracious public spaces including comfortable libraries with "walk-in" fireplaces, a game room, an outdoor patio looking over Lake Champlain and a fine farm to table restaurant. Very... More

So this is a historic mansion that has been turned into what a would compare to a Nat'l Park Lodge. It is completely original. Mattresses and plumbing are "turn of the century" and I am not talking about 15 years ago. And did I mention that there is no heat or air-conditioning? Having warned you, I loved the place and... We stayed two nights at this lovely inn, and wish we had had more time there! There was so much to do and see. For us, the highlight was sitting on Adirondack chairs looking out over the lake. The moon and stars were just amazing - like being in a planetarium. The restaurant was excellent - great food at both... More

Yes, you too can live like a Vanderbilt or at least pretend to be a member of the family when you stay at Shelburne Farms. An estate of breathtaking beauty and serious purpose that somehow balances the two--luxury and down-to-earth education in sustainability--perfectly. We stayed two nights this past fall at the peak of Vermont's autumnal beauty and walked miles... More

There is so much to do here. We enjoyed a wagon tour in the morning that shared the history of the farm. In the afternoon we enjoyed a tour of the house. The food for dinner in the farm to table menu was very good. The room had an excellent view of the lake. Yes, we would return.

Stayed in the Red room with a spectacular view of the lake. Traveled here for three nights following a family wedding. Not enough time here. The Sunday supper set menu was delicious and I would highly recommend. The freshest food you'll find anywhere. Friendly and unobtrusive service. Staying here was like going back in time to the Gilded age. Amazing... More

My husband and I stayed here in the spring when all the lilacs were in bloom. This stunning inn is one of the summer homes of Lila Vanderbilt Webb and sits on the shores of beautiful Lake Champlain. (The Vanderbilt's are responsible for building the railroads in this country.) The inn is now part of the Webb estate which is... More
