We saw the beauty of Shelborne Farms and learned about the history and charm of the Inn and what life was like for the Vanderbilts' in those years. The Inn was 'added on' instead of moved to a different location. A 'gorgeous' flower garden, beautiful artwork and a stunning view of Lake Champlain bring visitors to a 19th century way... More

The Inn at Shelburne Farms is a marvelous place. We have stayed there multiple days most years over the last decade. This is a historical property. Visitors need to understand that and they need to understand the plumbing is old, much of the furniture is original to the property and there is no HVAC. That is all part of the... More

We recently completed our fourth visit to this property. Each visit we notice improvements that enhance our stay. Still no AC or heat, but the breeze from Lake Champlain and the sun from west windows help cool and heat and you can't get a better view. The restaurant keeps getting better. If you want an early 20th Century experience, it... More

The location of this inn is wonderful, and each room is different. All rooms, however, are from a different time period, so if you don't want to experience life as it was, it is not for you. It is comfortable, has great views, rooms have good lighting for reading, and good wi-fi. Don't expect to see TV, as there is... More

Have you ever wondered how LIFE would be if you were rich ???? Here is your chance .... stay with the Vanderbilts ... or where they used to live. Beautiful mansion right on the shores of Lake Champlain ... sitting in your comfortable Adirondack chair ... looking well ... at the Adirondack mountains across the lake in New York, Beautiful... This is the old Vanderbilt "summer cottage", perfectly situated on a grassy knoll overlooking rolling lawns, manicured gardens and Lake Champlain, with layers of silver-grey mountains on the far side of the lake -- so don't think "hotel" and don't think "inn" in the usual American experience. Think , rather, that you have been invited to be a guest of... More

The best hotel I experienced in the USA! No airco, no noise. The website tells it all, and I specially like the very calm, relaxed atmosphere. Beautiful walks and if you dare you can swim in the lake. I am from Holland.

What makes this hotel so special is that it is in one of the great shingle-style homes in the United States. It manages to preserve the architectural character of the house and respects the history of the Webb family that built it while being a luxurious hotel at the same time. The rooms manage to strike that same balance. We... More

We visited the Inn at Shelburne Farms for a truly wonderful dining experience in the midst of foliage season. The food was excellent, the service A+ and the view overlooking Lake Champlain was breathtaking. We have enjoyed the Farm and Museum when our children were young and we always look forward to our return visits at this elegant turn of... More

The Inn is simply glorious. The setting is an old mansion in an estate setting right on Lake Champlain. The inn itself is old, creaky, and beautiful, with tons of personality and mercifully no television. We stayed in the White Room, which offered an amazing view of the lake. It was comfortable and quite large and we would absolutely consider... More
