We were debating on whether to stay here or another place in Bennington, both privately owned and recommended by T.A. The chains were just too expensive and we try to patronize local owners when we can. After checking out both places we decided on Governor's Rock due to several factors...the room (a king) was cleaner, the price was lower (Trip... More

We stayed one night and found this cozy little motel to be very clean and comfortable. It's right on Route 7A with easy access to Rte 7, to Manchester, VT, north, and Bennington, south. Owners were friendly; and in-room amenities include a 'fridge, microwave, large TV, and comfortably firm queen-bed. Everything was clean and well-maintained. There's an In-room coffee maker... More

My husband and I spent 2 nights here. The owner was so accommodating and genuinely wanted our stay to be a pleasant one. The rooms were small, but had about every convenience you could think of: microwave, refrigerator, luggage rack, etc. Some of the morning pastries were even homemade. The price was reasonable and provided a good home base from... More

Stayed here with my wife while on a 3 day motorcycle trip through the Green Mountains. Stayed here based on tripadvisor reviews and glad I did. First, Sophia, the owner is very personable and accommodating, a real down to earth good person. And the homemade cake she made each morning was excellent. The rooms are all on the ground level,... We had a lovely time at this motel. The rooms weren't too big, but they were very reasonably priced and clean. The location between Manchester and Bennington was a convenient place for us to stay on our trip. The owners were very nice and full of suggestions for local dining and activities. The view of the mountains was lovely. We... More

This little place is a true "mom & pop" endeavor, run with a very personal touch. It's on a beautiful property, with it's namesake "rock" prominently featured out on the front lawn. It doesn't have a lot of the fancy amenities of a large chain, but it is well-maintained and you're made to feel very welcome when you come for... More

My husband and I stayed at Governor's Rock Motel for five nights. We feel really lucky to have chosen this place for our visit to Vermont. The owner offered us a better price than the one quoted on booking websites so my recommendation is to call the motel for your booking. Our room was not too big but clean, comfortable,... More

This place is a little gem amongst so many hotels and motels in the southern Vt area. The price was very good, they let us bring our pets for a nominal fee, and the room was so cozy, clean, and comfortable! I loved the bed and bedding, the decor was tasteful and welcoming, and the shower while small, had some... More

My wife and daughter arrived in Bennington, VT well after dark and were unable to find accommodations in the city. We headed north on Route 7A and came upon Governor's Rock Motel. The owner's husband explained that his wife handles all the reservations but was not available until morning. He was not totally familiar with all the checking in procedures,... More

Just a nice place to stay. Nothing too fancy, but its clear that the caretakers do care lovingly for this motel. Great landscaping with flowers and shrubs, nice view of the Vermont countryside right outside the door (and chairs to relax in, if so inclined.) Beds are brand new and quite comfortable.
