We held a wedding here for our daughter during the "leaf peeping" season. Our guests took over all the rooms at the Inn. The staff did an amazing job helping us prepare for the reception. The food was delicious, the service outstanding, and the dining area and outdoor tent looked beautiful. Yes, this is an old Vermont inn, and some... More

Looking to find place to celebrate his 70th ,my husband decided we should travel to Saxtons River Inn. Innkeeper welcomed us with warmth only found in small country towns. Next morning we enjoyed 'perfect coffee' on porch with muffins - fresh out of oven. Watching hummingbird flit in & out of petunias hanging on porch reminded me of Innkeeper at... More

This place has plenty of character and a cozy feel to it, but the whole place is run down and the rooms are "rustic," to put it nicely: Missing lightbulbs, creaky beds, noisy A/Cs that almost fall out the window, drawers that can't be closed or opened... Our room windows opened up to somebody else's balcony -- weird. No fridges,... More

As some previous reviewers noted the Inn has seen better days. It could use a once-over in terms of refurbishing. But why get bent out of shape because the window sashes are shot or the rugs are a little worn. A wood-jam keeps the windows open fine and our dog did not mind sleeping on the rug one bit.. The... Just atrocious...that's al I can write about the condition of the room we reserved. No wonder this place was the only one who had a vacancy, during the peek of leaf peeping season. Neither of us wanted to lay our heads down on those pillows....staff was understanding and friendly.

The inn is right near friends that we visit often. We have stayed there two times for that reason. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, however the rooms need a lot of attention. I understand that the inn is old, but the carpet doesn't have to be dirty and stained. The bathroom could use some updating, especially the shower.... More

We just returned from a three night stay at the Saxtons River Inn. We once again found the inn to be a wonderfully hospitable place, with terrific food and friendly staff. From the bartender to the innkeeper, everyone gave us a warm welcome and could not have been more helpful, whether addressing questions about bicycle routes or discussing local history.... More

I’ve biked all over southern Vermont for 3 decades and stayed at most of the wonderful accommodations that this region offers, and this is the best inn by far, for the food and the hospitality of the staff. My wife and I will keep coming back. (If you are looking for the kind of glitzy hotel you’d find at any... More

We love the amazing personal touches and customer service. The Bartender, Jess, remembered us from years past that I have been there and greeted us with a huge smile. When I needed a couple personal items late in the evening the owner, Averill Larson, opened her store next door to accommodate me. The clear message through out the weekend was... More

We stayed at the inn yesterday. Our room was neglected, the wall to wall carpets had stains and the curtains were missing many hooks. The gap between the bathtub and the wall was full of black mildew. No tv in the room, even not an old one.... The pillow in the bed was hard and the air conditioning window unit was noisy. There is no... More
