This hotel has been purchased by a company in Connecticut that specializes in boutique hotels and accommodations. They are reportedly going through a complete remodel, including all the rooms, public spaces and adding a new indoor pool and exercise facility. Their website says they are reopening in Spring 2014.

I ate here today and was very disappointed. The service was erratic and rushed. We did not feel that we could relax and enjoy our meal, being asked multiple times if we were ready to order and then if we were ready to pay our bill. The sandwich was not a good value, the turkey being gristly and not very... More

I stayed at the Putney Inn in January with my daughter because we could not get a room at our first choice. The dinner and breakfast were good. The dinner was over priced but delicious and the menu was interesting. The room was old, outdated and dark. The shower curtain was soiled. The mattresses were very uncomfortable and I could... More

Great breakfast, no cut corners, lovely proprietors and staff. Full breakfast included with farm fresh ingredients. Had live music when we were here. Clean, and kids loved it. Also very convenient on our way further north.

We were very pleased with our stay at The Putney Inn: charming rooms, great resturant, friendly service and overall good value. It seems to me some people just look to complain. We look forward to another visit !!!

Came here on our way up north to Maine for a week with our two small dogs. Have to say the hotel room itself was a huge disappointment - dark, damp, shabby, way out dated. Willing to pay more because we have the dogs with us (and are generous tippers) so while the price was really good, $156 (w tax... More

A tired motel right next to Hwy91 is listed as an Inn, with" charming Inn prices" certainly overhyped as foodie lovers Inn with charming rooms. This expensive motel featured bare bulbs over the beds TV's from the Jimmy Carter administration, showers that are either very hot or ice cold and very mediocre food. Save your money and stay at an... More

If you're looking for a place to stay in southern Vermont without spending a fortune, I'd recommend the Putney Inn. It's within close proximity to many beautiful village towns. Breakfast is included and the people at the front desk are extremely friendly and accommodating. Room service staff/housekeeping is adequate. However, the rooms are in need of renovation and somewhat outdated.... More

This was a wonderful spot for a large extended family gathering for a memorial service nearby. Dog and children friendly and very kind, caring service for all. The complimentary breakfasts, Vermont full, or my favorite, oatmeal with maple syrup and almonds, got us off to a good start every morning. The warm and welcoming staff make up for any shortcomings.... More

We have stayed her over the years many times but this time will be our last time. The service was awful and the place has went downhill over the last few years. Even the breakfast is not as good as it used to be, it is pretty blah now. You can do better if you go a few more miles... More
