The Woods is a great place to de-stress with peace and quiet. I am a traveling nurse and had the privilege to stay here 15 weeks. I had a cabin all to myself which was delightful. Staying here you will be so centrally located to many of the recommended places to see when visiting the northeast. The town of Northfield is a very friendly quaint Vermont town with great places to eat. You get all of this plus the best hosts in Lisa and Jonathan. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and if you need anything all you have to do is ask. If you are looking for an extended place to stay or just a weekend getaway The Woods is the perfect place.

Despite late notice, the woods lodge was able to facilitate 16 Norwich International Students for spring break 2020. Lisa was very instrumental on helping us throughout the week. She allowed us to host a fundraising dinner party with no extra cost.

After a couple months of severe stress, I needed a solo retreat to jump start a healing process. The Woods Lodge was the perfect destination to experience the peacefulness of rural Vermont. The folks at The Woods Lodge were really welcoming and attentive to all my needs. After a week in the "Woods", I was on the path toward an improved emotional state of mind and physical well being. I highly recommend The Woods Lodge to anyone and everyone who wants to take a break from the hectic pace of life!

I stayed in the Hemlock cottage for about 6 weeks beginning mid-October. I was moving from out of state and had already started a job in Montpelier, but it was taking some time to close on the house we'd bought, so I needed to find temporary accommodations for the interim. I was quite pleased with and comfortable in the cottage. I kept thinking if I didn't have a family, it would be exactly the type of place I would look for, for myself, permanently. The kitchen was adequately stocked with utensils, flatware, dishes, pots, pans, and baking sheets. I never once had to eat out; I was able to cook all my meals right there. It was quiet and peaceful, and Jonathan and Lisa were excellent hosts. They took care of all my requests promptly and made me feel very welcome. All in all, I would definitely stay there again and would certainly recommend it to others.

Very friendly and accommodating. Location extremely convenient to Norwich University. I was surprised that it had a washer and dryer on the premises. That came in handy as I was dropping my son off at college and washed new sheets and towels.

This is a very rustic Vermont style "resort" .basic amenities, a bit run down. Could use some nails and paint. Our reservation was changed, without notice, leaving us one less bed than needed. Satellite television didn't work properly.,and the kitchen fan was scary! Set off the smoke alarm making bagels. If you are looking for that deep woods cabin experience, this is your place

My family and I came up from North Carolina to attend my nephew’s High School graduation. Normally we stay with my family but this time we decided against that plan. My husband searched for Air B&Bs and came across The Woods. He asked me if I had ever heard of it and I said no. It looked nice on-line and we decided to book it. What a great decision! The Lodge holds 2 suites, which were absolutely fabulous. Before we arrived, we were “up-graded” to The Nest, which had a full-sized kitchen living room and 2 bedrooms, each with a queen and twin bed. After we arrived, we’re were informed we also had a 3rd bedroom, which was separate from the suite, that had a queen bed. The Lodge was very rustic and well-maintained. The surrounding area was beautiful and peaceful ... just what we needed after spending the days with family and friends, attending graduation ceremonies and family reunions.

Old dim and dingy. Somewhat between motel and monastic but much closer to monastic. The lights are not very good and make everything dim. Bathroom bath is slippery, toilet difficult to use , dim light in the center and mirror off center makes it difficult to see to shave or put on makeup {a lantern and mirror hung on a tree is better}. No shades on the windows so the sunlight shines right onto the beds. The amenities in the kitchen were practically non existent, not even salt and pepper, no frying pan, only 2 forks, etc. Clearly shows the neglect and non attention to the details of their own ads.

Our family of 6 stayed in the Spruce cottage and we loved our stay there. The kids are already asking to return for another weekend. We enjoyed the rustic older charm along with the updates to the kitchen and the bathroom. You can tell there is work in progress and updates are on going. These updates fit well with the post and beam construction of the cabins roots.
