Place is a bit of a mess. Stayed with three other guys who were on the fence about it. Should of brought my own sheets/comforter or sleeping bag - was a bit dodgy... Communal men's bathroom was a bit of a mess. A lot of unused soap bars on the shower floors. Sauna looked okay but a bit dirty. Communal... more

My college makes a trip to grandpa's every year. Great deal, super close to jay peak. It's not a 5-star hotel, but if you're just there to ski, sleep, and party, it's perfect. Wonderful people. Best breakfast ever. There's a sauna. more

Grampa Grizz, what can I say. The place is a dump. But guess what....you walk in and you have a room in minutes. You go downstairs and there are two wacky kids there telling you deep woods Vermont stories while wearing Jnkos and asking you if you want some lines of advil. You drink your Molsons and listen and say... more

If you like to ski DEEP POWDER, Grandpa Grunts is a great choice. For the budget conscious skier, this is a gem. Although the rooms could be nicer, and the bathrooms a little more modern, the atmosphere is what makes the place great. Grandpa, Ted, and the other staff members are extremely friendly and welcoming. Grandpa's weekend breakfasts are really... more

Enjoy spending a weekend skiing at one of best mountains (Jay Peak) in New England? Well don't stay at Granpa Grumps if you like heat, hot water and a clean fresh bed. I have traveled around the world and this place was one of the worst! Instead of fixing the leak in the drain pipe in the men's urinal, the... more

The best non-pretentious place to stay in VT! Grampa Grunts rules. Awesome breakfast to send you on your way and all the late night fun you could ask for in Montgomery. Communal space means that you will enjoy the smoke, drink, and personalities of all- a nice opportunity to chillax and relive your college days! more

When you're in your mid 30's, and 40 just isn't that far away, any chance for an opportunity to capture a moment from the movie "Old School" seems like a little piece of heaven. Grampa Grunts can offer you heaven for $78 for two nights and the best damn omelettes in Vermont. Great opportunities exist to meet people from all... more

I cant beleive that people are writing bad reviews on this place like they expecting a caesars palace? Remember it was 28 bucks a night? Who would stay their but somebody who is not picky, and is simply all about skiing, not upper class lodging. This place had more personality than any lodge i have ever seen. The rooms were... more

I feel bad for those who write bad things about Grunts. Clearly they cannot appreciate it for what it is. I had a great time, Grandpa was more than accomidating to my friend through a sudden illness (refunds & hospitality) that warrented her early departure. You won't find that at any snooty "lodge". Fun people gather in grunts basement at... more

I don't know what you boys from Dama are complaining about. For twenty-something dollars, Grunts in the best ski hostel around. With over 350" in annual snowfall 4 miles down the road, the majority of your weekend shouldn't have been spent sulking around economy lodging. Grunts is what it is; The best lodging available for the best skiing in the... more
