We stayed there for Chili Fest and it was wonderful. Great food. Great coffee! Great conversation with the guests. We felt like guests not clients. My husband still talks about their breakfast. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

I stayed here for a three day visit in early May and the experience could not have been better. Walking distance to campus and town in a charming residential neighborhood, it provides a private off-street parking space for your car as well. Very clean, well-kept, and well-run, it provided the perfect blend of privacy and warmth. At breakfast (menu varies... More

I came to Middlebury, Vermont to visit Middlebury College and discovered "A Room in the Village" almost by accident. From my initial convivial conversation with Patty I couldn't wait to arrive, and the friendly voice I conversed with transferred into thoughtful and well-meant hospitality; the breakfasts were delicious and conversations with Patty and Guntram were delightful and open. The Blue... More

Frankly, I don't know where to begin. I happened upon this b&b while searching for a place to stay when visiting my daughter who attends Middlebury College. Even though she's graduating this spring, I would come back just to stay at this remarkable inn. This home is pristine and decorated with amazing art, all works created by family members. Immediately... More

We come back to Vermont every few years. This is now our absolutely number one go to place to stay. The hosts of this charming B&B are gracious, refined and generous people who provide a hospitable space for relaxation and super comfortable beds for a great night's sleep. Each morning we would wake up to the wonderful smells of breakfasts... More

a home away from home... in our view, this particular home serves a yummier breakfast, has much more beautiful art, and absolutely NO dust -- anywhere! seriously, patty and guntram are a joy, and run their business with their hearts. i recommend A Room in the Village without hesitation, having stayed their twice, definitely hoping to return. A short walk... More

We stayed at A Room in the Village in July and were very happy with the accomodations, the food, and the hosts! We came with two teenagers (one ours) who were looking at Middlebury College. My husband and I stayed in the bedroom with a great loft bed, where our daughter slept and our friend had his own room downstairs,... More

I hesitate staying at b&bs, since sometimes the owners can be annoying. But these folks were just the right amount of helpful. She made us dinner reservations, offered her screened in porch to us for wine, and generally left us alone. the beds were wonderful and the breakfast more than I expected

What a fantastic find! Our hosts were so gracious and welcoming. Beautiful and comfortable space. So convenient to walk into town, but just far enough out not to feel in the middle of everything. It was a lovely place to stay for a beautiful wedding weekend. So much appreciation to the hosts and our friend that recommended A Room in... More

A Room in the Village is a charming and delightful bed and breakfast close to Middlebury College and the town! Patty and Guntrum Herb were wonderful hosts to three generations of our family for Middlebury's February Graduation. Guntrum is a Professor of Geography at Middlebury College and Patty is a wonderful artist - many of her paintings decorate the walls.... More
