At first you might flinch. It is old and the A/C units are in the windows. But, it's a pleasant place to stay and, best, it's in the middle of town. It has all the charm of an historic in and is exactly what you'd expect to find on the green in an old New England town. We chose not... More

We stayed at the Middlebury Inn while visiting Middlebury College, and were very happy with our stay. The Inn is lovely and decorated with beautiful antiques - our room as large, had good air conditioning ( important, as it was a very hot day), and comfortably arranged. Breakfast downstairs was delicious, and the staff was helpful with directions and accommodations.

Middlebury Inn has been around for a long time and reflects some of that history in its offering. This is the classic new england inn experience and if thats what you are after then you wont be disappointed. I think a lot of the guests are parents visiting thier kids at the nearby college so they dont necessarily spend too... More

In the beautiful little town of Middlebury, VT, we have the stately Middlebury Inn, a "throwback" to the olden days, with its high ceilings, tall windows, and canopy beds. July 4th weekend was a quiet time for the town, which suited me and my wife just fine. Using a Travelzoo voucher, there were no rooms available in that category, so... More

My husband and I stayed here overnight with our daughter in anticipation of touring Middlebury College. The decor is lovely and the location is beautiful. However, breakfast was not up to the standards of a typical Vermont Inn. Pancakes should be light and fluffy but mine were rubbery and flat! It boggled my mind as to why an Inn would... More

I hate to see you settle for us because of a lack of options. We should be able to do better than that! I spoke with the Chef about the Pancakes and he was as annoyed as you were so I don't think that will happen again. As for the condiments, I've written of this before - we are prohibited... More

I'll give these folks an A for effort, but a C for the project. It's clean and the effort has been made to update. In fact, too many efforts have been made and the result is pretty incoherent from a design standpoint. In addition, there is a busy street in front and parking lots encircling the inn, making it a... Bargains can be found, but not usually during our busy season - call me in January! But seriously, I do hear from time to time that our interior design is a bit of a hodgepodge, but most of our guests find it appealing in a Vermont sort of way. You can imagine that many have tried their hand at it... More

Service was excellent and the location was great. Middlebury is a town to discover is you want to explorer the green mountains. This Inn is the place to go is you want to stay there for the night. I'll recommend this to anyone.

And you did recommend us to anyone - thank you. We love this time of year when our friends from up North come down to visit. It must be to try our Maple Syrup and see what all the fuss is about. Thank you for staying with us. Geoff Conrad General Manager More

We could not ask for more from our one night stay. The place was clean, the plumbing was up to date, the water was hot OR cold as desired, the room was quiet, the carpets/drapes had been updated somewhat recently, the bed was good. We were updated to a nicely sized suite. Front desk clerk (Chantal) was very helpful. We... More

It sounds like we may have made a convert to the Historic Hotel way of traveling. I alluded to those 'creaks' in my last comment - they can be charming, I admit. As for the sloping hallway, it connects to an adjacent building that previously housed a bank and then an insurance agency. At some point they connected it to... More

A lovely quaint hotel in the center of town, wonderful service, we arrived just after tea, it was lovely, a step back in time. Parking was a little difficult but once settled it was lovely to just walk about Middlebury and be so close to our room.

By all means, make sure you arrive in time for our complimentary Afternoon Tea served daily in the Lobby from 2:30-5:30 pm. It's a great way to get a feel for the hospitality of the Middlebury Inn. By the way, ours is not High Tea - I'm told the 'high' in High tea refers to the time of day and... More

This place was old and rickety, but that's what I wanted from a hotel built in the 1800s in Vermont. My room on the top floor was comfortable and well worn in. It was in the back, which it recommend due to some street noise in the front. It had a lovely view of the mountains. The staff were friendly,... More

I'm not sure what image 'rickety' brings to mind, but there are a few creaks as you walk the wide hallways of the Main Inn. It was built 187 years ago and speaking of those wide hallways, they were designed to accommodate the wide hoop skirts that women wore at the time for grand occasions of the sort held at... More
