My son and I arrived at the Inn at 2AM after a challenging drive on icy roads. I was afraid that it would be closed for the night...but the lights were all on...the woman at the desk was friendly, efficient and the staff acted like it was normal to check in at 2AM. We were upgraded to a suite with... More

As a fellow Vermonter says, 'we'll leave the light on for you' - oh wait, that's not us. But I'm happy you felt welcome at our comfortable old Inn. Just so you know, we're going through a top to bottom refeshing of our food and beverage operation. New Chef, menus, decor and we have some great ideas for upgrading the... More

The Inn is a big ole, semi-formal, comfy, place, well suited to people who don’t mind walking upstairs instead of waiting for a staff member to come operate the elevator. The beds are comfortable. The AC is quiet. Everything is spic and span with the patina of age that one gets from well-cared-for furnishings. There is a 10% discount for... More

I stayed over a Fall Sunday evening on business and was pleasantly surprised. Check-in was smooth, I was given a free room upgrade (the Inn was much less than full) in the main building, and my room was delightfully quirky but had all the mod cons. It is a historic building, expect uneven floors and creaks, but that's what I... More

We're taught in Hotel Management 101 to differentiate ourselves from the competition and you just did my job for me. The Middlebury Inn is not a cookie cutter hotel, but a somewhay quirky, but comfortable historic gem located right in the center of Middlebury. I will check out that noisy Air Conditioner, however! Thanks you for the kind words. Geoff... More

I stayed here for a weekend of fall foliage viewing. It was amazingly convenient to everything in town that a tourist would want to be able to walk to. More

... And there is every reason for visitors to the Inn to complain about the annex, which was indeed only slightly better than a motel. My room was neat, but there was nothing to show that much thought had been given to customizing each room in the way you see so often at lodgings in Vermont. The bed was just... More

I always appreciate well thought out comments and yours strikes the right balance, in my opinion, although some explanation is in order. As an historic Inn, adding additional rooms or space is never easy and in the 60's, the owners at the time made the correct decision that the town of Middlebury needed additional lodging options and the annex was... Historic Inn with loads of charm and modern comfort. Great staff. Good food. Charming Tea. Comfortable beds. I have terrible allergies and I can breath easy there. The rooms are also very quiet and private. More

Thank you for your kind words and for being such a loyal customer. I hope you noticed that we arranged for a late foliage season this year, just for you. Any business, especially ours, depends on the efforts of a team of customer service staff and we do have the best, so thanks for pointing that out. Hope to see... More

Good old-fashioned service and quaint feel. We loved this place and will return if we come back to Middlebury. Booked a large room for a family of four. Room was simple and bath was small, but just fine for our one-night visit. More

We hope you'll come back! - Maybe we're biased, but we think Middlebury College is the best choice for a progressive education in an atmosphere of simple values and historic significance. And where else can you find a 185 year old full service Inn that fits so nicely into this great college town. We hope to see you again and... More

Our family of four stayed at the Middlebury Inn, in Middlebury Vt. for one night while driving through Vermont, New Hampshire & Western Ma to visit colleges. Lucky for us it was fabulous weather & the colors of the trees were magnificent! There is the Main Building& then the Porter House Mansion. It is a beautiful, historical cluster of buildings.... Thanks for a very detailed critique and might I add, a very fair accessment. It's always nice when the weather cooperates, especially this time of year. Because we are a historic Inn, the rooms in both the main Inn and the Porter Mansion (both built about 185 years ago) are all very different, with quite a few variations and layouts.... More

Stayed in the Porter House Mansion for 2 nights - it was beautiful, quiet and full of historic charm! Would absolutely recommend it to anyone. The Inn next door is beautiful as well, and you can walk to everything in town easily, which you should certainly do!! More

We stayed at the Middlebury Inn for 2 nights the first week of October. It is a beautiful historic hotel right in the middle of Middlebury. People considering staying here should not expect the Westin as this hotel is almost 200 years old. We stayed in the main building and the rooms are all different and ours had 2 bathrooms.... More

I appreciate your comments about our Breakfast Buffet and Afternoon Tea. In this busy season with the leaf peepers and motorcoach tours, it is easy to get complacent about some aspects of our service and I agree that we could be more diligent about keeping an eye on our two most visible dining areas. We will take your comments to... More
