What a fantastic weekend I just had! It was almost as perfect as a Jane Austen novel! There was the setting -- a gorgeous property with well-kept guest rooms, charming sitting and dining areas (where we were treated to delicious breakfasts, an afternoon tea, and dinner), and an amazing view of the mountains. Even better were the characters: Suzanne, the... More

As soon as we saw the Governor's House on the internet we knew we wanted to spend some time in this truly beautiful property. We were half way thru a round the World holiday and just needed to detach from the big cities and recharge the batteries. Also we thought it would be a good chance to take in the... More

The Governor's House is a stately B&B that is well kept, clean and relaxing. Suzanne was very accommodating and attentive to our needs. It was very evident that our comfort was her primary concern. The food was nicely presented and satisfying. What was nice is that if there is a problem she is willing to fix it immediately (as she... More

I've read some of these reviews, and I just don't understand the negative ones.. Oatmeal and a banana for breakfast? No. Breakfast was terrific.. Fresh fruit( for example, the banana was sliced, and sprinkled with cinnamon, and was accompanied by fresh blueberries, oranges and cantaloupe melon)... After the fresh fruit, came steel cut oatmeal, with maple syrup drizzled on top,... More

Beautifully restored property with an amazing setting. Nice breakfast provided (a little skimpy, but a good start of the day). Highly recommended! Hint: stay out of the property kitchen - this hostess has rules!!

My fiance booked a room with Suzanne for our honeymoon, and he did a great job! Governor's House is a lovely old house with a warm, welcoming innkeeper. WIth 8 rooms, there are enough guest to socialize if you want, or seek privacy if that's more your thing. The innkeeper, Suzanne, was very knowledgeable about area attractions, and willing to... The rooms were very clean, that's the best thing. There wasn't much to do in the town and the hostess was unable to answer questions about the area. Breakfast is included, but for what we paid per night we were expecting something more than oatmeal and a banana. If you only want a clean bed and don't mind paying premium... More

We were so impressed with Suzanne's hospitality throughout our stay at the Governor's House in Hyde Park. During check in she told us stories of the house and made us feel welcome to roam about to see the various rooms and artifacts within the house. We stayed in the Pineapple Room which was one of the smaller rooms, but with... More

This is the first time I have ever responded to a review of my B&B. First of all, I want to thank all the delightful guests who have visited and especially those who have written nice things about me and the Governor's House. I hugely enjoy being an innkeeper and taking pains to make the house look great and my... More

This elegant Victorian home in the charming, unspoiled village of Hyde Park was the ideal setting for our small celebration and peaceful overnight stay. My partner hosted a 40th birthday party for me at the Governor's House, and we were delighted by the house, our room, and especially by the efforts of Suzanne, the innkeeper. Her attention to detail was... More

The Jane Austen Week-end in this charming Bed & Breakfast in rural Vermont has been an unexpected pleasure. The host is passionate about the subject and very knowledgeable without being pedantic. I have enjoyed friendly stay, homemade food, good conversation, afternoon tea just like at the time of the regency in New England, and interesting conversation about Jane Austen, literature,...
