My husband and I were married at Sumner Mansion Inn this past August 2013 and we could not have been more happy with our experience. We are the kind of folks who wanted to host a nice wedding without having to spend an arm and a leg. Sumner was perfect for us. It is a beautiful, historic home converted to... More

Thanks Laurel, It was a real pleasure hosting your wedding and working with you to make the day special. I loved that you were so laid back and determined to enjoy your special day. You were a beautiful bride, in every sense, and I foresee many long and happy years together for you two. Thanks again for putting your trust... More

I found Sumner Mansion on Trip Advisor and the reviews were so good, we decided to stay there. To our delight the Bed and Breakfast was just wonderful, in fact we thought it was excellent. Jill the owner was there to greet us and made us feel like family. We loved the house and grounds. We had a large beautiful... More

Jill, the owner, welcomed us as if we were long-lost friends. She knew that we were coming to Hartland to do genealogical research, so in advance of our arrival, she arranged for us to meet with the president of the town historical society. The Sumner is a grand mansion, with a well-stocked library, an elegant breakfast room, and beautiful grounds.

My now-husband's mother has already written a review on this page, but we felt we had to add our own perspective. We stayed at Sumner for several days, including before and after our wedding. While we booked the Inn based on how beautiful the grounds and building were, we were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed our room (the... More

My son was married this August at the Mansion, his bride grew up "down the road" from it. Family and friends came from all over, Mom & myself from Florida. The giant maple tree makes the perfect backdrop for the ceremony. We all carried our chairs back to the garden tables or inside for dinner and then dancing in the... More

What a wonderful experience we had staying at the Sumner Inn with owner Jill. The home is an historic site and Jill has it furnished with all kinds of interesting antiques and art. The first floor bedroom and bath were luxurious AND have easy access to the front door for taking the dogs out. Comfortable beds, great fireplaces, good breakfast... More

There is a new owner at Sumner Mansion and it makes all the difference in the world! Jill is taking this historic old house and is bringing it back to life with panache. An antique dealer, she has brought her great taste and flair to every room in the house. Who could resist sleeping in a huge canopied bed in... More

My husband and I just got back from staying at Sumner, and we had the most amazing time with Jill, the new owner. We attended a rehearsal dinner for 75 people, and everything was beautiful and flawless. Staying there was the most comfortable and welcoming experience we could ask for. The rooms are spacious and decorated with amazing antique decor... More

We recently enjoyed a wonderful summer weekend at the Sumner Mansion in Hartland, VT. The new owner is Jill Crowley and she exudes enthusiasm and is extremely knowledgeable about the area. A gracious hostess and, I suspect, a history buff at heart, she loves sharing her knowledge with her guests. Also a dealer of antiques, she offers for sale many... More

My wife and I stayed three nights at the Sumner Mansion while visiting friends and testing the area golf courses. The building itself is historic, dating to the early 1800s (Lafayette slept there... really!) and is conveniently located, close to the Interstate. But once on the ground you would think you were on a large and private estate. The new... More
