I am a local resident of VT and my mom is from NJ. We did the 2-day adult tennis camp and absolutely loved it! The clay courts are great. Our 2 pros (Anders and Charlie) were wonderful! We especially loved the video of ourselves playing and very helpful critique sessions. The lunches at The Tavern were delicious both days. We... More

I am so happy that we chose this property for part of a mother-daughter trip we took. Very centrally located to attractions in the area, yet set off in a "world of its own", The Essex had plenty of amenities. Loved the pool area, the beautifully maintained grounds, and the hammocks! Our room in The Mansion was large & bright,... More

My husband and I stayed here for three nights, and we could not have been more pleased! Upon check in, which was quick and easy, we were presented with homemade chocolates. The room we stayed in was a standard room. I am happy to share with you that the standard room is enormous, and very well appointed. Bed was comfy,... More

The food at the Tavern was great. Lots of very fresh and inventive cuisine -- for instance, a bruschetta with asparagus and tomatoes on a rosemary foccacia bread. Also a fantastic tagliatelle with pea pesto. The rooms are not too fancy, and the style is a bit plain and old-fashioned, but they're nevertheless kept very clean.

after reading reviews my expectations were low but this is a very nice hotel with great amenities. Our room was large, bright, clean and comfortable. Reception was very professional and pleasant. Biggest surprise were the nice gardens, very friendly and helpful staff, and spaciousness throughout the property. We booked through PriceLine and had an excellent room rate, but afterwards I... Just like the menu in their Tavern, the Essex was filled with choices, quality, taste, and little surprises. All the elegance of a 5-star resort with the comfort of your local inn. So many things to choose: tennis, golf, swimming (inside and out), fire pits, fire places, hot tub by the pool or in the privacy of your own room,... More

We came here with extended family and had 5 rooms reserved, so I will share my experience all around. We did not sign up for any culinary experiences, so I will not comment on that. We were there Fri-Mon. The resort - it's not expansive - itself is decent. I wouldn't rate it at AAA 4-diamond but perhaps I can't... More

Staff were amazing, food was top notch, and the facilities made for a truly relaxing stay. Outdoor and indoor pools, hottub were all fantastic. Hiking, tennis, golf. AND an great outlet mall minutes away. Great for a retreat from the day-to-day grind.

My husband purchased a groupon for us to visit this resort as a Christmas gift to me. We originally planned our trip for January as a snowshoe getaway but had to reschedule due to a death in the family. The resort was very nice about changing the reservation with no trouble at all. When we took the trip in April... More
