My mom and I stayed here courtesy of the Travelzoo voucher that many others have referenced. So the value was outstanding, but I would not pay full price. The service was great, no problems there. We liked the location for proximity to Burlington, where we spent most of our time. If we had stayed in Burlington we probably wouldn't have... More

The Essex restaurants were great. Highly recommend the Chef's Table at Amuse - 9 courses, with the chef (Alex) cooking right in front of us (and 6 other people at the L-shaped bar where we ate), and talking about the dishes and cooking in general. The meal started at about 7:00 and ended at about 10:30. Upon arrival we found... More

Having read some rather negative reviews of the restaurants at this resort, I was hesitant to stay here. But, the food at Amuse, the hotel's dinner restaurant, was so good. The filet mignon melted in my mouth. The following night, I tried the Emu, which the waitress promised me would taste like beef. It was unbelievable. The free appetizers were... More

The food at Amuse was from a very creative menu and was prepared perfectly. The Tavern was less formal but equally good. Live entertainment on Saturday night and a fire pit. It was great! The indoor pool and hot tub were clean and very nice. Our suite was very comfortable.

I am shocked by the super slow internet connection at The Essex. In addition, my windows were aften frozen (8 out 10 times). It was very frustrating! It is 2011, not 2000! Even a very small motel that we stayed at in Maine the night before for only $64 had much faster internet. I am also surprised that after many... More

If you are looking for a great culinary experience try the "Chef's table" dining experience. This was our first time at the property ane we thought this could be fun. We were right! Incredible food and Chef Jean Luc was tremendous. Very accomodating, entertaining and a tremendous chef. Our 7 course experience, with wine pairings, was the hightlight of our... More

We stayed at the Essex Resort in August and the resort is lovely. The rooms were clean and pretty and the food in the restaurant was delicious. But what impressed me the most was the thoughtfulness of the management. During the night there was a fire alarm and we had to evacuate our rooms for almost an hour. To our... More

First time we stayed in this property my sister bought this deal through Groupon its a great deal includes $100 credit to be used, the property is huge and clean parking is ok and quiet staff is ok but not friendly, wireless internet is a plus, complimentary cofee in the morning, hot apple cider with cookies in the afternoon. The... More
