My husband and I drove to the Essex from Baltimore for our belated honeymoon. Money was tight, but we were able to stay within our budget. We loved everything... the staff (both hotel and restaurant)... the pool... the food... the fitness center. It was the perfect experience. We loved the Essex so much, we extended our trip by an extra... More

I'd like to start off by saying that I'm not sure if anyone stays at the Essex without having a deal. We got a discount on "Living Social," but we've also seen it on Jetsetter, and I've heard of discounts from travelzoo as well. We drove up from Boston in a storm--usual drive should be 3.5 hours, although 5 hours... More

In a quaint corner of Chittenden County we found a little bit of magic. The Inn At Essex provided us with a brief get away, relaxing spa environment and scrumptious food. We have decided to make it an annual tradition. Well worth the money. We highly recommend!

My girlfriend and I once spent an amazing weekend here, and it was soo great that I decided to bring her back to to propose to her. Unfortunately, money was tight and I was concerned about all the little "extras" that would add up. Jason (at the front desk) worked with me to find a room and date that would... More

We went to Essex over February break and my husband and I and our two girls had a great time. The rooms are very comfortable with incredible beds, linens and towels. We had a traditional room in the main inn which was a bit crowded for 2 adults and 2 kids. We asked about an upgrade and they couldn't be... More

My husband and I had a two-night weekend getaway to The Essex. We applied a gift package from Groupon that included a two-night stay and either a cooking class for two or a massage for two in the on-site spa. Check-in was easy, they had cookies waiting as well as a cooking demonstration in the hallway featuring a chef making... More

Our experience at the Essex was top shelf from beginning to end. The food, the rooms, the service and staff were so wonderful. We had a great time at the Culinary Institute's class on French Provencal cooking-very fun and hands-on. The indoor pool and hot tub were so relaxing. The rooms were lovely with many fine touches including a Keurig... More

The Essex was fantastic. The rooms were large, clean and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. And the spa services were great. Next time I hope to take advantage of the cooking classes and Saturday night bonfire. Overall, a great relaxing get-away.

We chose the Culinary Resort because of its proximity to Burlington VT for our New Years Celebration as well as the amenities the hotel offered. We stayed two nights and fully enjoyed the indoor pool and outdoor hot tub as well as the spa services and on site restaurant and tavern. It was everything we wanted... easy, calming, tasty and... Hotel was worn looking in the hallways. NO sound separation between the bedroom and bathroom - yuck. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean and pretty. Grounds of the hotel were beautiful....but you are smack dab in the middle of a suburb with a shopping center across the street. I expected it to be a little more out of... More
