I don't get what's so great about this hotel. My fella and I spent two nights here over the summer and, while the size of our room was substantial, our stay was unimpressive. We began by waking up to no coffee. Our room had been stocked with decaf. Honest mistake. Then we called down to order room service. I ordered... More

The good: nice staff. Easy to get to. Nice afternoon wine and cheese deal. The not so: Feels slightly neglected. Grounds to linens, carpets to paint, all a little beaten up. Needs some buffing up to charge the rates they're asking.

This inn is really well located just a few minutes from Burlington, close to outlet shopping and a fun little golf course. The grounds are very nice with excellent spa and pool facilities in a great garden setting. They pride themselves as a culinary inn. while we did not participate in any of the culinary courses, we did eat both... More

Location is really good as it is away from the hustle of Burlington. Many amenities, biking and hiking at property and the grounds are very nice indeed. Do be vigilant about what is going on at the Resort when you plan to visit as the rooms vary and there are some that are much more pleasing than others and if... More

We spent 3 nights here in August. Not sure why you would be in this particular neighborhood however if you are then the Essex is a worthy destination. On site amenities are very good with helpful and attentive staff. The room could have done with a bit of updating but overall we were pleasantly surprised. The kids enjoyed the swimming... More

My husband and I stayed here for 3 days. The location was great for getting to know the area -- close to Burlington and bike trails along the lake, and really wonderful casual dining around Essex. Our favorite was the Istanbul Kabob House -- amazing Turkish cuisine. Our room at The Essex was lovely and airy, and the staff was... More

We attended a wedding at the resort, and were visiting from out of town. It was an amazing experience, the staff was great and informative and helpful. The food on site was out of this world! We ate several meals there over the weekend, and the bar staff even opened for us early on Sunday for a late lunch before... More

We stayed a night here and would have liked to stay more. Lovely grounds and we had a very spacious room. Close to the Outlet Mall if you are a shopper. The mall also has a great organic grocery store. We stayed so we could have our motorcycles serviced nearby on the way to New York!

The Essex is a nice place to stay, but, I would not recommend it to the business traveler which is what I was. The room I stayed at seemed a bit tired, the shower was weak and it sprayed all over the place. For the price, unless you are into the culinary experience for which you have to pay, other... More

Dear Cashew50, It is unfortunate that we did not meet your expectations. We do have many varied options for our guests. Some want to partake in all of the many and varied activities offered. Others simply want to read a book in one of our hammocks or by the pool with a cool refreshing drink and certainly some are here... More
