We stayed for 2 nights for our 15th wedding anniversary. The room was spacious, but the decor looked about 20 years old and was worn out. The brass faucet fixtures were worn grey, and the carpet was almost worn to the backing. Even the swing door behind the check in was covered in black grime. After breakfast the first day,... More

We recently had the pleasure of spending a night at the Essex. Check-in was seamless, and we were given a room in the "Mansion" which was very large and exceedingly well-appointed. We had a late-night meal in the tavern which had delicious appetizers and one of my husband's favorites, bangers and mash! We did not have time this trip to... More

I called in advance to ensure that a bottle of champagne was left in our room prior to our arrival to celebrate our anniversary. I called several times and was transferred to the Tavern, a restaurant on site. No employees were in the Tavern and thus I was left on hold for ages. I called back and the lady at... More

Stayed here on September 13th for Waterfront Festival in Burlington. Room was nice but only had gotten one queen when 2 were requested but a cot no charge and it was really comfy for me (my friend is taller gave her the queen) the Bell Hop guy (didn't get his name) was Awesome! Friendly, helped us out as much as... More

My Hubby and I had a wonderful time. We stayed 3 nights. We booked the escape to the Essex package. It was so worth it. Night #1 we did a culinary class. It was FANTASTIC. Probably the highlight of our trip. We learned a lot, had a great time, and the food was delicious. Day # 2 we used the... More

Besides being in a very beautiful location for a work conference, the bed had to be the best part. Comfortable, comforting, and just all around awesome, between the pillows and blankets, I felt very comfy. Some of the reviews mention things being 'dated' but really, for the price you're paying with the lovely grounds and different activities, I was very... More

Two friends and I stayed here 4 nights. I shared a double room with one of them and the other had her own room. We were both in the main part of the inn which was convenient. PROS: The grounds are lovely. Our room was comfortable, clean and quiet. The bed was quite comfortable, good pillow choices, and we enjoyed... More

Overall, I had a very satisfactory stay here for 3 nights. We had a nice sized corner room in a building next to the mansion. The room was a good size for 2 adult and 2 kids. It was an okay room for a hotel, but nothing resort like about it. The bathroom was updated and clean. I was happy... More

For two nights we were guests on the first floor in The Manor facing the trees Labor Day weekend. Our room was beautiful, clean, up-to-date, spacious and quiet with a very comfortable bed! Not much more one can ask for in a room. We concluded that the second night of our stay was the quietest night we had ever experienced... More
