The rooms are obviously old and outdated, which wouldn't be such a big deal if they were at least clean. The shower was disgusting - mold and huge amounts of dust in the vent. There was dust everywhere. There was even water left in the ice bucket.... So obviously they need to pay more attention to the details of cleaning.... More

First stay, we will return! We stayed for a long weekend in July. Kyle the reservationist was great & accomodating! We arrived extremely late on Thursday evening and was greeted with a warm welcome by the front desk. The room was nice. Coffee & tea in the main building every morning was a plus! The food was all fantastic especially... More

It has been a year since my we last visited this property, and unfortunately I would have loved to say that things are still wonderful but...... There have obviously been a lot of changes in staffing at the property. The very first impression, the bellman, was standing at the door when we arrived, and promptly disappeared when we opened our... More

Positives first: great beds and linens with soft pillows, quiet, nice tv, ceramic mugs and glass drinking cups in room. Keurig in room! Nice clean pools. Robes are wonderful Negatives: slightly run down overall Hot tub filthy. Toilet was loose and kept running. Housekeeping forgot wash cloths two days in a row we had to call for them. Little details... More

Food excellent, spa very nice, well-maintained grounds. Wonderful stay, very relaxing, close to Burlington and other attractions...but I do agree that the rooms are in serious need of updating. The furnishings and decor are out of date and, frankly, a little sad, but clean and so we minded less than we might have otherwise. Ask for housekeeping early or your... More

Off the beaten path in a secluded setting. I had a mini suite complete with a fireplace (not relevant in August, but it would be nice when it's cooler). The bathroom was very small, the desk is small and not functional for working. That said, the room was large and comfy. The two restaurants were great and worth a visit,... More

Our room was small and a little dated, but clean and comfortable. We took advantage of a coupon and combined a stay with a cooking class. A different instructor than the year before, and she didn’t seem real comfortable with teaching making it uncomfortable to ask her questions. We had fun in the class and we cooked an excellent meal.... More

Just spent a weekend at the Essex Inn. My only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer. The room was very nice. The location is beautiful. The golf course is right across the street and as long as there is no tournament going on a great place to play. Be sure to take in a dinner in the Junction. Food... More

This is the second time my wife and I have visited this inn. Both times have been wonderful. The first time we both attended a cooking class which was very good. This last time we tried out their new restaurant and the food was out standing the chefs came and explained each course before they were served. The people at... More

My husband and two teenagers stayed in this resort just one night, wish it were more. Upon arrival check in was very thorough and quick. In the main building lobby there is complimentary iced tea and cookies throughout the day. We visited but did not use the pools, hot tubs and gym. All were clean, spacious and very well kept....
