What does a 4 diamond resort do to compensate for a fire alarm in the morning and having to march to another building with temperatures in the teens and stand there for 45 minutes? NOTHING. What do they do for us when the same thing happens during the dinner service to us the very next day with another 45 minute... More

Dear John T, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to complete this review with the details of your experience regarding the alarms sounded during your visit. While I am happy to say we did not have a fire or life threatening event, I certainly agree with you that it is less than convenient... More

My spouse and I have been to the resort even before we were married. We were actually married there in the fall months and have gone back for cooking classes. The resort is beautiful if your looking for New England style architecture, setting, and reasonable prices. If you have ever seen "What Lies Beneath" with Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfieffer... If you love Vermont and all that it offers year round, then try out this resort. The staff is friendly and helpful, the restaurants are superb. We have stayed here summer and winter and love the access to all things Vermont. You are treated like family especially if you are a regular. Believe me it is easy to become a... More

Stayed at The Essex during a road trip of the New England States. It's average, not four stars, but not bad for a one night stay. The staff were nice and welcoming. The place is a little outdated like our pink room with the orange curtains and brass bed. Kind of difficult to get to in the dark. But we... More

We booked this vacation as a last minute escape. We needed a place to fill a lot of criteria, reasonable diving distance from NYC area, family friendly, dog friendly, activities for mommy alone time, close to many different ski areas, close to shopping and other family type of entertainment. We found all of this in the Essex. The staff is... More

My room was nice the spa was nice but I was very disappointed with how I was treated and how I saw others treated also saw one of the "upper managers" swearing non stop I... More

Our getaway night here couldn't have been more perfect - ok maybe if the Junction restaurant and the culinary school had remained open instead of closing for the Downton Abbey charity event. But that's a nit. Surroundings were impeccable - genuine, understated elegance and overblown displays of ostentatious fussiness. Our room was huge. Great attention to detail including real half... The spa was lovely - in addition to services, it was great to have the steam room, pool, fitness room, relaxation rooms and hot tub available whenever you wanted to use them. The cooking class was terrific - we had two for one coupons and the experience was fun and delicious! All of the staff we dealt with were pleasant... More

This was my first stay at a culinary resort - it won't be my last. The menu was magnificent - and reasonably priced considering the quality. We took one class (another first) and thoroughly enjoyed it. To top it all off, I recommend spending time in the outdoor hot tub and spoiling yourself with a massage.

We had the romantic getaway package with a couples massage included. Needless to say, we did not have a couples massage. We arrived on a Saturday night. Our room was not ready, so we went to the Tavern. We then obtained our key and went to our room. On Sunday we inquired about our couples massage appointment and the Spa... More

Dear 19Marianne19, Thank you for staying with us over the holidays. During these high demand times it is not uncommon for our Spa to book to capacity. While I am happy to hear we were able to accommodate you somewhat, it is most unfortunate that you did not have the chance to experience all the Spa has to offer. Junction... More
