I was so pleased with our one night stay at this beautifully decorated Inn. It was our rare kid free one-night (get away) and the place was perfect for that. At arrival, we sat on the front porch, afternoon sun, beautiful flowers, and inside the lobby was perfect music always playing. Backyard garden is so beautifully landscaped. Room was very... More

My husband and I stayed at several inns throughout the Brandon, VT area. We loved the Lilac Inn's accommodations the best: great cotton linens, n incredibly comfortable mattress and lots of windows to open for the Vermont night air. While we were too full from lunch to appreciate the dinner, it was beautifully presented and smelled delicious. The gardens are... More

The Lilac Inn is an absolutely wonderful place to go. My boyfriend and I could not have asked for a better, more relaxing or more romantic stay. The property is stunning and feels immediately like home from the moment you walk in the door. We surveyed the flowers in the backyard garden, enjoyed the peacefulness inside the gazebo and enjoyed... More

We stayed for 3 nights at Lilac Inn. Beautiful setting with comfortable quiet rooms (we stayed in the Audubon Room, king size bed). Beds and pillows were especially comfortable. Easy walk to charming Brandon where we enjoyed Cafe Provence & Sheri's Diner. Owner Doug and the entire staff were very professional, courteous and friendly. Breakfast was hearty & delicious including... More

We stayed at the Lilac Inn for mid season camp weekend in July. I was attracted to the Lilac Inn from the website and it's photos. I also heard about Brandon's restaurants, of which there are basically two. The Lilac looks immaculate and the gardens look huge on the website. Now, while the owners are friendly inn keepers, the breakfast tasty... More

Thank you for your review of your three night stay with us. With a building that is over a hundred years old we are constantly updating guest rooms and doing maintenance. It is part of “The Arches” historic charm that harks back to its day as a “Summer Cottage” in 1909. We have never had anyone complain about “extremely loud... More

We were only here for one night but we will definitely be back. From the time we walked in until we left the next morning we were delighted with the entire experience. Shelly was so kind and accommodating while telling us about the accommodations and breakfast. The room was very clean and comfortable. Our night was very restful and breakfast... More

The inn is extraordinarily beautiful and well maintained with elegant gardens. Doug and Shelley are very welcoming and accommodating. We loved the privacy of the Gardener's Room and enjoyed taking long walks around the peaceful village. The delicious breakfast was made with fresh ingredients including a variety of creative courses. We spent 2 nights in the Robert Frost Room and were very comfortable. Super great inn with loads of history and structure. Shelly and Doug make certain all your needs are met and even add many suggestions and stories. The breakfast is one you won't forget. We'll certainly include this on our next trip through Vermont.

Thank you staying with us and for your comments. As we mentioned to you, we feel more like custodians than owners and are glad this magnificent ‘summer cottage’ is still welcoming guests a hundred years later. We have tried to keep it up to date with needed amenities, while preserving its historic past. We really appreciate your comments about our... More

Doug and Shelly run one of those "second to none" B&Bs where the scent of actual lilacs greets you in the entryway that sits under a magnificent, towering marble chimney. This inn was built in 1909, and it still maintains its sprawling and romantic atmosphere. There are numerous public rooms on the main floor that includes two vintage grand pianos,... More

My daughter and I visited Middlebury in April when she was deciding which college to attend next year. The hospitality at the Lilac Inn was among the factors that helped convince her that Middlebury was the right choice. We had a lovely stay. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed.
