This B&B is a warm and charming Vermont heritage home, and breakfasts are gourmet delights! We stayed in the beautifully appointed Rose Garden Room which was very pretty and feminine. It is only one mile from Karme Choling and very convenient for programs there. Owner, Gail, was so kind and helpful, she even sent us home with homemade muffins for... More

The Old Homestead is a wonderfully cozy B&B on Route 5 in Barnet, Vermont. Gail Warnaar, the owner, truly makes you feel at home. She is a warm, down-to-earth host to her guests. The inn is near the Connecticut River on 23 mostly-wooded acres, a short distance to I-91, and St. Johnsbury is a 10-minute drive for restaurants, theater, arts... More

Now for a few years we have spent the night at Gail's inn on our way to Québec. We love it; to us a B&B is sharing someone's house and lifestyle. Definitely the case...delicious food, cosy rooms and lovely morning with passing guests! Can't wait for our next visit !

I would have to disagree with the negative reviews of the others. We stayed one night (because of our travel plans not because of anything else) and we enjoyed our time there. Gail was a kind, accommodating and attentive hostess especially when it came to our 1yr old daughter and her needs. She provided the pack'n'play as well. She also... More

On Oct 6 we had booked the Old Homestead for 1 night and thankfully only 1 night even though Gail tried to convince us to stay more we even were charged an extra $20.00 because we only stayed 1 night. That should have been a clue. The house is in a cluttered mess. We stayed in the "Master Suite" with... More

Gail is indeed a welcoming host. Our experience with the inn was another story. I can only comment on the room we had - the Master Suite on the first floor. It may not be representative of other rooms, but it was what it was: unkempt, surfaces covered with old dust, cobwebs, overwhelmingly musty. Personal effects throughout. The "private porch"... More

We stayed 5 nights at The Old Homestead: the room was really nice, comfortable and clean, the breakfast were scrumptious, the hostess was frienly and attentive. Nothing to desire more for a perfect vacation. Actually, it has been one of the better places where we ever stayed!

We stayed for two nights and our hostess made delightful breadkfasts both mornings. The food was delicious and delightful with homemade bread and locally grown fruits and vegetables. Gail was most accommodating and gave us helpful information about events, local sites and directions. The Old Homestead is a well maintained historical home. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and beautifully... More
