Absolutely brilliant. The stay was exactly as described on the website, earth floor and wooden domed room made of timber. We had 5 double beds so plenty to chose from for the 3 of us. The Hogan was equipped with a fridge, air conditioning, lighting, settee etc there was nothing more we needed. The bathroom was about 30metres away. It... More

The experience is everything they said it would be. The emails are explicit as to what to expect... A shared bathroom, animals, a dwelling made of dirt & log. However, the shared bathroom is only a shared space, each hogan has a designated shower and toilet... So essentially you have you're own facilities which is very different than if you're... More

I should apologise to the owners as I am writing this review some years after I stayed at their place (summer 2011). When I travel, I look to stay somewhere that allows me to avoid chain/mass hotels, tourist buses and gives me a feeling of the real life in the location I am. I looked at the description on the... We chose to stay here while visiting Monument Valley, and the concept of staying in an (almost) authentic Navaho hogan intrigued us. Our first impression at seeing its construction from the outside was a little unnerving, given that it looked like little more than a dirt mound. But the interior is beautiful, with its stacked and overlapping logs forming the... More

We visited recently and stayed one night before taking a tour of monument valley. The hogan was really lovely inside and the quietest and more remote place I've ever stayed. Our hosts were attentive and provided a delicious breakfast. Really couldn't recommend this place enough if you're looking for some peace and quiet in a beautiful location where you can... More

We loved our stay in a traditional hogan at the Firetree Inn. It was very cool and different to any other place we’ve stayed in before. Raquel and Martin are very nice and friendly hosts. Apple brownie cake for breakfast is the best thing in the world! Raquel and Martin do a great job making sure you know what you... More

The owners do a lot of warning on their website so people don't freak out about being out in nature. Yes, there's wildlife and it's waaaaaaay out there in a pretty uninhabited area, but...BUT! If you want to commune with nature, or heck, want to commune with some pretty freaking cool B&B owners, this is the place for you. I... More

This was without doubt the highlight of our entire trip around the South West with our two children. Raquel and Martin are so welcoming and wonderful hosts. Breakfast was perfect - home made bread, cake, jams. But the hogan was something which will remain with us for a long time. It is stunning. We stayed in the 5 bed and... More

We stayed at the Firetree last August one night on our way to Grand Canyon from Moab. We are a family of four with two kids, girl (14) and boy (12) and we stayed at the big hogan which fits 5 double beds and a couch. Our stay at Firetree was just amazing. I can not imagine a better way... More

Martin and Raquel run a rare and marvelous B+B on the edge of Monument Valley. The hogans are round traditional Navajo shelters, constructed VERY strongly of ponderosa and juniper woods, and overlaid with earth so they resemble a large bump on the earth. They have 2 hogans...one which sleeps 7 people and one for two people. The hogans are magnificently... More
