One of the best parts of my stay at the Homestead was how friendly everyone was. I got an online special rate, so my stay was about the same price as any of the big chain hotels, but the Homestead has a lot more character. I stayed in The Barn (each set of rooms is in a subdivided older building),... More

We stayed here for a weekend for our anniversary. It was just the right kind of relaxing. We loved seeing the deer in the morning. We didn't swim in the crater but it was fun to visit (it is free to look at it). We really didn't do much but that was just what we wanted.

Our room was in an older section of the resort. It was clean but the paint was old, the furniture was old, the drapes were old. My biggest complaint was that the drapes over the window facing the public walkway would not close. We had to pin them shut. It was obvious that other guests had had to do the... More

There are numerous buildings on the grounds, but I can only speak to the one we were in, which was quiet, comfortable, and had a nice view (room 96). The hotel had an older but elegant setting. It costs a bit more than the local Holiday Inn Express (our usual haunt most times when on the road) without the breakfast,... More

This place has so much potential. It is is cute, quaint, and in a small resort town...however, the rooms are older and very modest and overpriced for what they are. Nothing fancy whatsoever. We stayed in the Barn building and it was for sure minimal and rustic. There was mold and mildew in the shower and the maid service did... More

When Salt Lake hotels were all but sold out (only rooms for $300+ night available) we started searching in a 30-40 minute radius for a hotel. The Homestead was one of the few that came up and we jumped on it as we were desperate for a room. What a pleasant surprise when we arrived at the resort! The grounds... More

Jamie and the staff made our stay at the Homestead a memorable and extraordinary experience. She kept in contact with us, offered suggestions, and helped us plan a wonderful reunion. In a day and age when individuals in the hosting industry can be so business like and impersonal, it was refreshing to work with Jamie and see her genuine interest... More

The resort is unique with several small buildings and beautiful grounds. That being said our cottage was old. The carpets outside the doors were missing and bare wood and splinters showing. Inside we felt it was updated but lacked good upgrades. The bed was extremely comfy but that was it. The bathroom was horrific. The sink and tub were stained,... More

I agree with the other posters who said that this is more of a "family place" than a romantic place. You can definitely tell that this is a place for extended families to come on vacation. Very "Dirty Dancing"-esc (you know without all of the sleeping around part...) with all of the activities and things to do in a wholesome... More

It started with reservations that were wrong after we had checked them a in advance- downhill from there. Our party ended up in 3 different buildings. They do keep the grounds nice at the expense of customer service. The grounds are not very accessible for strollers. Our room at 10pm is still close to 80 degrees. The "nicer" restaurant only...
