A friend and stayed here when we were too exhausted to keep driving last summer. It was the only place in Mexican Hat that had a vacancy and neither of us wanted to drive any further. The room was super reasonable and, holy crap, the beds.... My friend and I actually sat and discussed if there was a way to... More

Limited choices near Monument Valley, the Hat Rock in was fine for a one night stop. Rooms were clean, spacious and cool. Staff at reception not greatly cheerful or helpful, but that was no big deal. Tip - get a room on the top floor away (not on road side) to avoid noise / traffic nuisance.

This is one of only 4 or 5 hotels near Monument Valley. It is only average because it does not have security locks and is very OLD. It does have a brand new swimming pool with fantastic views. The room was clean and neat and had a microwave and small refrigerator.

If you need a place to stay in Monument Valley this small motel may be your best bet in Mexican Hat. The room was quiet, clean, well-maintained. We were given several dining recommendations by our inn keeper, though "gourmet" food is not offered in this tiny town.

We stayed on the river side and the view was excellent. The room was quiet and clean with a comfortable bed. In a town that is no more than a bend in the road, it was nice. No breakfast or coffee were offered in the lobby but what the heck. If you are in that neighborhood at sunset, it is... More

Pro: Very clean and comfortable. Beautiful vista and river location. Relaxing. The pool is spectacular. Hot tub was built into the pool. The pool area had nice covered area as well as comfortable lounging chairs. Con: Didn't have continental breakfast set up. Might have been too early in season for them. We dined at the Old Bridge Cafe (property of... More

I specifically wanted to stay in Mexican Hat due to my itinerary. The Hat Rock Inn is undergoing major renovations to its grounds. They obviously have big aspirations and are looking to attract the higher $$ clientele. My room was very very clean. Service was good but I did not have any opportunity to test it. Pool and associated deck... More

When I decided to stay at this place it was because the website availability chart showed that it was nearly fully booked for the night I would be there (turned out not to be true) and I assumed that was because it was a great place. As a previous poster noted, I was taken in by the hype. Not only... More

Monument Valley was the centrepoint of the touring section of our holiday. We decided on the Hat Rock Inn as it had the best reviews of the 3 properties in Mexican Hat. We chose staying at Mexican Hat over staying at Monument Valley itself (far too expensive) or Kayenta (which we saw and was a bit of a dump). We... More

We had a nice stay at hat rock inn. Ask for a river facing room. The view is great, red mountains out the window and the river below. The hotel is making lots of good improvements, the pool area, when finished, will be very nice, a nice little sitting area above the river, a path down to the river, even... More
