What a cool place to stay and be near Monument Valley, but out of the immediate tourist crowd. Mexican Hat, named after a rock formation that looks exactly like that, is a very colorful little village close to Monument Valley and providing very nice rooms right on the San Juan River. Our room was riverside (the back of the Inn),... More

The room decor was nice and the pool area is beautiful. Check-in was EXTREMELY slow and the woman at the counter wasn't particularly nice. They didn't proactively give you the wifi password and the room didn't have a phone, so I had to walk back to the front desk to get the password. It was a pain. It's especially inconvenient... More

This motel is a real find. You might when looking at the map think that Mexican Hat is a sizeable town with lots of amenities. I'm pleased to say it isn't and that's what's so great about the place. It's a few motels restaurants and a petrol station and that's it but all in it's own little red rock canyon... More

After riding through the spectacular Monument Valley we arrived at this little gem. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable and I like it when the staff have taken the time to turn on the a/c so when you arrive the room is fresh and cool. The pool area looks recently renovated and is gorgeous. My only complaint is the... More

Modern room & bath, nice linens & TV channel selection. Keurig coffee maker & coffees. Only problem...no hot water in am. Night before was instant hot. Picturesque location on San Juan river. Nice pool, deck area. Recommend skipping the inn's restaurant.

location - mexican hat is really small... this one of a few small hotels in town. there isn't any downtown or anything. all 4 or 5 hotels are clustered in a small area that is the town. close by to a few tourist attractions (about 30-60 minutes) - goosnecks, valley of the gods. we slept here as a base for... Now, I understand the comments others have made about the cost of this hotel, however we need to consider a couple of points. Firstly, the whole area, being a Navajo site, is devoid of chain hotels etc, consequently there are very few places to stay within 30 minutes of Monument Valley. The scarcity of hotels means those that are there... More

It was Saturday night, and we found yourselves east of Page AZ as it was getting late. Every place we tried was full. We were beginning to think we would be sleeping in the car. In desperation, we headed north through Monument Valley. We came to the very small town of Mexican Hat. Thinking anything would be better than sleeping... More

There are not many options to stay overnight in the area, so of course the room rates are very high. But 159.- for this 2-3 star motel is way too high, also considering that breakfast is not included. Rooms were clean, nice location, nice pool! You can choose a specific room when making the reservation, which is quite cool. Staff... More

Rooms were a little dated, but they were clean, tidy and have everything that you need for an overnight stay. Got a room on the second floor facing the river and the views were fantastic. Had a couple of beers on the upper deck at sunset, perfect!
