On a long road trip through the Southwest, we had been disappointed by our hotels the previous two nights in Salina, KS and Moab, UT. Knowing that this was one of few options in a very small town, we didn't have high hopes. Goodness knows the high prices in Moab didn't get us what we expected. Thanks to a busy... More

I'd highly recommend the Swinging Steak restaurant there, for a place to eat. My friend and I each had the "House Steak" and it came with perfect portion of salad, pinto beans and thick toasted bread, all on one sizzler platter, pretty neat if you ask me. We walked around the grounds a bit just to check it out and... More

I had to leave a river rafting trip at Mexican Hat. Just walked up from the put in/take out site with my dry bags and Medical Hat Lodge was at the top, first place you get to. No bus service through M Hat so I was stuck until my husband could drive from Albuquerque. The Lodge had some charm, a... More

The motel is a little pricey but options are slim in this glorious part of the southwest. The room was comfortable but showing its wear. The whole property is fairly rustic and not ADA accessible. However, for getting to see Monument Valley at dusk and dawn, it's the perfect location. The Swingin Steak was kitschy and needed salt but definitely... More

This review is on the restaurant "The Swingin Steakhouse" and NOT the lodge. The swinging grill on which the steaks and toast are cooked is a great show - I had never seen anything like it and was filled with anticipation for a great steak dinner. Unfortunately everything else about the experience here was a disappointment - especially the meal.... More

After an average welcome we got our room. Room was spacious and very clean. We found all amenities in the room what we were looking for. Honestly even a bit over our expectations. We had a quiet and comfortable night.

Really good looking place, but: Poor choice of courses, no choice on sides. Poor serving with a compulsory 18% tip. Overpriced. Not so eager to split up tabs and credit card payment. If you're in the middle of nowhere and starving, go there to have a beer and buy some food at the 711 in front of it.

Little choice in Mexican Hat. Went based on reviews. Okay, most, near enough all, of seating is outside and only some covered so watch your weather. We went both nights we stayed in Mexican Hat and waiting staff was different on both nights but you wouldn't have noticed. First impressions are that it is a bit of a showpiece with... More

In our opinion a middle class lodging without breakfast offer. The public area is lovely furnished; the room itself are appropriate and I appreciated that they were using dispenser. Usually I would expect more for that price but it´s only a small lodge in a quite small village... Also due to the absence of alternatives, we´ve chosen the hotel restaurant... More

Mexican Hat Lodge has updated rooms, comfy beds, a/c and free wi-fi. Also the swinging grill for a steak dinner is highly recommended. Nice staff in hotel and restaurant. Best place to eat for literally miles around. A little pricy, but worth it.
