There are three great things about this place - location, location and LOCATION. It is located in a quiet corner of US 163 on the San Juan River - that's right, it's right by river inside the canyon's gorge and you can see the river flowing by about 15 feet away from your room; no other house or construction visible... Honestly we were not expecting a lot from such a small remote area but we were still very disappointed. It is an old hotel. Old is not bad but dirty is unacceptable. We were in room #2. The shower was the size of a phone booth and did not have any light. The shower curtain was old and stained. We... More

The San Juan Inn is an older property but has a great location. Rooms are clean and comfortable - good mattress! Bathrooms are small but commensurate with age of the property. Rooms are well maintained. The bonus is the location - right above the San Juan River with several outdoor seating / picnic areas right along the river; a spacious... More

We weren’t expecting the Ritz but what a pleasant surprise we got. Huge room with everything fresh and clean and no signs of excessive wear and tear. The grounds of the motel are lovely with lots of comfortable chairs to sit outside and enjoy the evening right next to the river. On arrival we were a bit worried that we... More

Spent one night at the San Juan Inn. The air conditioner stopped working sometime during the night. When we woke up at 5 a.m., it was too hot in the room to take a shower - it wouldn't have done any good. Don't misunderstand - we're from the South where heat indexes have lately been in the 100s with 75%... More

Wow! Who in fact did you talk to? I had heard nothing of this. Yes, we do occasionally get a scorpion in a room or spiders, but I have never heard of 2 in one night! It is always after the pest management team has sprayed and they are dying. Sometimes guests leave the room doors open which can create... More

We stayed here after a grueling eight-hour drive and prior to a wonderful seven-day river trip. It was absolutely perfect and really the quintessential place to stay in tiny Mexican Hat. The rooms were fine, but the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food in the motel restaurant hit the spot and this made for a perfect family stay... More

When you take into account the remote location, this is a very acceptable place to stay. It ain't The Ritz, but you shouldn't expect that in this part of Southern Utah. On the upside, they do have a licenced restaurant and sitting sipping a cold one watching the San Juan River drift by makes a very pleasant pastime. You certainly... More

We spent two nights at San Juan Inn in Mexican Hat. We used it as our base for exploring Monument Valley which is 20 miles south of MH. The accommodation in Monument Valley is expensive and limited to the two hotels namely the View and the Gouldings. We got a spacious room with a king bed . More importantly the... More

Recently three generations of our family decided to visit Valley of the Gods in Utah. Some family members have physical limitations so a driving tour is appropriate. The San Juan Inn Motel was perfect for those with limitations as they could drive to the room and enter with only one step. The rooms were very clean and tidy, this facility... More
