I had a wonderful time staying at Whispering Sands for a week when I was recently working in the town. The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are large and well-equipped. The complimentary breakfast next door is a added bonus. I highly recommend staying at Whispering Sands Motel!

Whispering Sands is a small motel/hotel in an even smaller town so based on that I gave it a 4 - in fact for the town it's probably a 5. We were going to Little Wild Horse Canyon and Goblin State Park the next day and this was the closest place. The hotel was clean, reasonably priced, included continental breakfast.... More

My daughter and I went to the Capitol Reef park in Utah and decided we would head out to Hanksville to spend the night. With a population of about 300, I thought we wouldn't have a problem getting a spot at Whispering Sands, but I still figured I ought to call ahead to be safe. We got the last room!... More

We have been coming out to Hanksville to dig at the Hanksville/Burpee Dinosaur Quarry for ten years now and depend on Whispering Sands as a comfy place to come back to. Each year it seems to get better. The staff is friendly and helpful too.

Let's make this easy. If you're going to stay in Hanksville, this is the hotel. We stayed in a "cabin" room (single story appendage to the main hotel). It was clean, organized, and most stuff worked fine. The staff is friendly and works hard to keep it a good place. That said, as far as we could tell, the heater... More

Stayed here before going into Goblin Valley and Little Wild Horse Slot Canyon hiking. Room was great! Very clean and cheap. Don't let the fact that it is an older motel scare you. Would stay again. ...Mr & Mrs Smith

Very nice, very clean and nicely appointed room with a king-size bed, a rarity in most motels. Nicely remodeled bathrooms. Very friendly staff. No breakfast served, but Stan’s Burger Shack restaurant is located next door. Quiet surroundings.

The Whispering Sands Motel is like an oasis in the middle of a vast, sparsely populated high desert area, with Hanksville at its center. We've stayed here several times, as a base for various adventures - canyoneering, backpacking, and hiking in Capitol Reef or Goblin Valley. The owner/manager is so welcoming and accommoating, and works tirelessly to make sure guests... More

Stayed here before backpacking woodruff canyon. Room was great, very clean, and cheap. Went into the office about 9pm to see if they could run my card for cash for a soda from the machine and they gave me cash because they couldn't run my card. Great customer service.

I spend a few weeks out of the year in Hanksville for work. The whispering Sands is a great value. Rooms are always clean and modern and the owner is more than accommodating. One of my favourite places to stay.
