This is no five star Hyatt Regency, but you need to remember you're in Hanksville, Utah, this is not the end of the civilized world but you're pretty darn close. I wish every room in the country had rooms as clean and fresh, for the same price. Outside temps were in the teens but a nice quiet room furnace warmed... More

Fantastic homely place for a stopover to explore the local area. Rooms are clean and tidy, staff are fantastic and plenty of local options for a meal. We were on a 5 week road trip adventure across southern US with no planned or booked stops, grabbing what accommodation we could where we could, and Whispering Sands was one of those... More

We were driving from Bryce Canyon, through Capitol Reef on our way to Moab and selected Hanksville as a good overnight stop. Our check-in and check-out service was quick and friendly. The room was clean and well maintained. We liked the firm mattress, the in-room WiFi and the breakfast next door at Stan's Shak. The room had a coffee maker,... More

Cute room, and it was nice and clean. The beds however were very uncomfortable and there was a lot of noise from the adjoining rooms. The curtains did not reach the bottom of the window and people were going past with flashlights which shined in our faces. Very thin walls and noisy neighbors meant we got very little sleep. The... The beds were terribly hard. Woke up sore and unrested. We stayed in room for 108. Also the shower head was like water needles hitting you. But the room was very clean and otherwise well furnished. At only $80/night I should not complain and the location was perfect for our weekend's plans. If they would put in new pillow top... More

After a long drive from Escalante, via Capitol Reef National Park, it was lovely to check in to Whispering Sands. The room has everything you need - comfortable bed, pleasant decor, fridge, good internet connection, nice toiletries and a hairdryer. You get a free breakfast in Stan's Shak in the Gas station next door and 10% reduction on food there... More

Hanksville is in the middle of very little and offers nothing to stop for. It is, however, a great place to stay if you are visiting Horsehoe Canyon (Canyonlands National Park), Goblin Valley State Park, and hiking to slot canyons north of Goblin. We did all three and stayed at the Motel three nights. We stayed in the two-story motel,... More

We arrived in one of the recent downpours this area has been experiencing, and found the staff and place quite nice. She even came down in the heavy rain with lightbulbs for us. The room is pleasant, and contains all needed -- good beds, nice linens, frig and microwave, tv, and good internet.

We stayed at the Whispering Sands Motel en route from Kodachrome Basin State Park to Price, Utah. We found the hotel's staff quite friendly, the rooms very clean and having a laundry room available was perfect for us since we have traveled for seven days before then. Anyway, the AC unit worked fine; the beds were comfortable; and there was... More

It doesn't look like much from the outside (especially the row of rooms/cabins that look like glorified TuffSheds), but the rooms are surprisingly comfortable and clean. There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room, but no ironing board. The carpet looked fairly new, fluffy and clean. Hanksville is a very small town, so dining options are very limited, but...
