The outside look is quite distinctive in color and shape. Locals call it the shoebox. The inside is beautifully designed and comfortable. All the comforts of home plus a spectacular view from the living room. I would definitely stay again when in the area.

We used this as a base for exploring Escalante and it was a dream vacation. First the house is very unusual and the design and craftsmanship are much better than the typical rental or certainly any hotel. This is no cookie cutter holiday rental. The cabinets are more like fine furniture, every detail is well thought out and executed. We... More

The owners of the home are very helpful but unobtrusive. The beds are comfortable, the layout good for two couples or a family of four. There are laundry facilities in the garage along with a nice barbeque. The only drawback is there is only one shower even though there are two bathrooms. It's a very nice solar home with lots... This fresh new home is thoughtfully designed and decorated for both comfort and beauty, with lots of nice touches. While it's conveniently located right in town, La Luz looks out onto mountains, not other houses. It was quiet, peaceful, and offered everything we wanted after a day of exploring the natural wonders of the area. The owners were knowledgeable, hospitable... More

This is a fresh, modern, well-designed base from which to explore the glories of the Escalante region. All the comforts of home - and then some - have been thoughtfully provided and are in excellent working order: sub-zero fridge, DW, gas grill, W/D, excellent shower facility, comfortable beds and furnishings, surprisingly good internet access for the remoteness of the location,... Thanks to the hosts for a perfect location to all the fun in the Grand Staircase region. We had such a good time in the area that we want to go back soon. We enjoyed lazy mornings and sitting out on the patio in the evening with the Milky Way above us - the night sky is amazing. We certainly... More

Great access to hikes in the Grand Staircase region. Our hosts were knowledgeable about the roads, hikes, flora and fauna of the area. One mile walk or ride into town with a couple of fun restaurants and a couple of full service outfitters. The house is luxurious, with a glamerous new kitchen design, comfortables beds and a beautiful view from... More

This was my first time staying at La Luz and the second for my wife and sister-in-law. I love the architecture which utilizes passive solar heating/cooling techniques with an open kitchen/living/dining floor plan. One of our favorite activities at the house was sitting on the patio at night after a day of adventure and looking at all the stars. This... More

This is to be the cream of the crop in the dessert for rentals. Fine architecture and the most well stocked kitchen I have ever come across (apart from my own!!). Try to arrive in the daylight as it can be tricky to find, but once found you will be delighted. Enjoy the isolation and the feeling of being in... More

We expected a decent house to use for a base for touring all the national parks/monuments in Utah. What we got was absolutely incredible - beautiful open spaces, architectural detailing, comfortable furniture, amazingly upscale appliances. It was also very clean and well-maintained. And exceptionally quiet, just at the edge of town. The owners were on vacation when we arrived but... More
