If you use "dated" as a negative, stop reading here and don't book Recapture. It's not the kind of place you'd enjoy or understand. If "no phone" is an issue, you need color (or any other) coordination of decor, or you expect every amenity to work perfectly every time without any eccentricities, you'll have a better stay elsewhere. This is... More

Nice and confortable hotel on the road to the monument valley! Great hospitality and service, nice rooms and an incredible surrounding. The real way to life the west. Nice swimming pool and relaxing area.

I am sad that it was just a layover, would have stay longer if I had more time. The staff was very friendly, and follow his recommendation I took a walk to the San Juan river following the trails in the property (magnificent view, I must say). The building is said to be old but is definitely well decorated. Complimentary... More

I recently (Nov/2014) stayed here for one night as part of a photography workshop. Whenever I write one of these reviews I usually read the 1-stars first just to get a sense of perspective and see if there is a pattern that maybe I missed. Having done that I must say that with all due respect to those reviewers, their... More

This a great little Retro place to stay. Brought back memories of when I was a kid travelling with my parents in the 1960s. The owners/management were very nice and excited that we stayed with them. The rooms were quaint and cozy. The outdoor hot tub was execellent. Breakfast was nice and filling. Will go there again, when we return... More

This is what you expect an older Wild West motel to look like. Two stories with a balcony running in front of the upper stairs and red sandstone car park. Painted brown to match the surrounding countryside it raised eyebrows when we arrived. The reception was exceptionally warm and the rooms were fine, clean and the beds comfortable. It was... More

This charming retreat may not be the fanciest, but owners Jim and Luanne absolutely understand that sometimes it's all about the broader experience. We were part of a group whose members return every October to explore the nearby historic sites and hike and visit. Every effort was made to accommodate this group. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and a... More

My son and I stayed at Recapture for one night in March - No it is not fancy, but it is comfortable, clean and quaint. The hosts Jim and Luanne are wonderful and I would highly recommend this lodge to others.

This place has everything a good lodge must have! It's located in a very quite area near the entrance of Zion national park. There's a shuttle that can get you to the park every 5/10 minutes. The pool is quite nice except when is too crowded, and it happens in summer time. I wish I could stay for a longer... More

No, it is not fancy-- no it is not modern-- what it is-- is retro/quaint and pleasant with very nice people both staying and working there. If you want a comfy place to stay in the area while hiking, this is where you want to be. The AC is "odd" and you need to keep a window partially open for... More
