We were just there for one night. Stayed in Bluff rather than in overpriced Monument Valley area. Desk clerk was very friendly and gave us an enormous suite with living room, kitchen and bedroom. Older motel but clean and everything worked and bed was comfortable. We were in room 2 just behind the office. Didn't hear a lot of road... More

My husband and I wanted to stay in Bluff on a Saturday night but every hotel was booked. We changed our intinery and arrived around 3:00 pm on Sunday. By this time 3 hotels were full but the Recapture Lodge had some rooms available for $104 a night. We checked in. Our room felt like an oven. That is when... More

I do quite a bit of backpacking/hiking in Southeastern Utah and this is ALWAYS the place I stay. The price is great, it's clean, and the staff are awesome. The breakfast room is filled with every ounce of info on the area that you could possibly want. The staff can recommend hikes or let you know about road conditions etc.... More

The Recapture Lodge is a quaint hotel and is a welcome relieve from the "modern hotel chains." The welcoming staff provide the kind of service that you want and the rooms are comfortable and clean. Breakfast is a pleasant experience, as you always meet interesting traveler - many of who are staying for multiple days to experience the hiking, fishing,... More

This is an "old-fashioned" sort of motel in that the building and amentities are on the older side, with a double room about $90 a night. That's not to say anything is decrepit or will offend you. Recapture lodge can best be described as "rustic." The rooms and beds are comfortable enough. The Lodge owners and staff are very friendly... More

Hard to think of enough superlatives for this place. Great, character-filled place with staff and owners who know everything about the area, and fellow guests (most of whom are hikers) who are eager to share tales of their travels. I don't think I've ever been in a hotel like this in the U.S., in fact. It had such a somewhere... More

Recapture Lodge is a quaint and somewhat rustic lodge located in an out-of-the-way area miles away from any "supermarket." My son, his friend and I loved it there. It was QUIET. It was super-clean. But best of all the owners, Jim and Luanne, are authentically caring human beings who go out of their way to give you great information (including... More

The strength of this motel is the staff. This is a great place for out of doors folks. The staff knows the area well and is willing to share. The office has an outstanding collection of maps of the local area. They will provide excellent advice on where and how to go anywhere in the Comb Ridge area. In general... More

We were taking an RV trip through the west and I could not stand another night in the RV. We booked Recapture because it was pretty close to Monument Valley. It was clean and the owners were nice. One of a kind experience.

If you use "dated" as a negative, stop reading here and don't book Recapture. It's not the kind of place you'd enjoy or understand. If "no phone" is an issue, you need color (or any other) coordination of decor, or you expect every amenity to work perfectly every time without any eccentricities, you'll have a better stay elsewhere. This is... More
