As a motorcycle travel writer, I stay in a lot of chain hotels. However, when I can, I choose family owned lodging. The Recapture Lodge is a throw-back to the glory days of the drive-up motel. The owner is a great guy with a ton of local knowledge and the rooms are clean, cozy and comfortable. By the way, Bluff... More

I stayed at Recapture Lodge for the night because it was in a convenient location. It was very basic but it was also very inexpensive. After a long day of hiking I was just happy to have a hot shower and comfortable bed. For a full 4 day road trip itinerary through Utah follow me at ForeverChasingWanderlust

SILENT air conditioning meant our best nights sleep on our trip. A pool to cool off after a long day. Hummingbirds at breakfast. A treasure trove of maps, information and stories about the locality makes this stop better than any tourist info for adventurers. Make sure you plan an extra day in your itinerary to follow advice of staff on... More

We were traveling pretty late and happened upon this place by accident. It was the first place we came to with a "vacancy" sign. The place was build in the 50s and it shows. The rooms were clean but basic. No in-room coffee maker, no hair dryer (thought we were able to borrow one from the front desk). No wifi.... More

We stayed three nights in Bluff, including time for a canyon hike, Indian art finds at local trading posts, and a float trip down the San Juan River. The Twin Rocks Cafe and Gift Shop is nearby with most needs and decent food. Ask about the historic properties available besides the charming roadside inn with cozy swimming pool--we stayed at... I enjoy privately owned entities! You can tell this family loves what they do and they enjoy making your stay worth while. This little town is amazing, like Mayberry from Andy Griffith or Radiator Springs from Cars, I look forward to coming back with my wife someday!

When in Bluff we always stay at the Recapture Lodge. The staff are very knowledgeable with great tips about the amazing archaeological sites, wonderful hikes, and other things to do in the Bluff area. There is a library of books and maps to get you to many of these places and there is also the occasional slide show in the... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in June 2015. All was fine. Maybe just lacking more places to put clothes away / hang them up, We didn't want to have to live out of the suitcases for 3 days. The pool in the grounds is lovely on a hot afternoon, and the breakfast buffet is just want's needed: cereals, bread,... More

This is a no frills place to stay but there is a nice charm to it. The owners are very friendly and know a lot about the surrounding area. Located right in the center of bluff It's a no frills but a nice place to stay.

We decided last minute to visit 4 Corners on our return trip from CA to CO. I found encouraging ratings/reviews online before calling Recapture Lodge. We were able to book a room arriving late w/3 kids and a dog in tow. The description of the 1959 establishment was right on, and we found our paneled room charming and ready for... More
