We stepped back in time and enjoyed the comfort and cleanliness of this little gem of a motel. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The complimentary breakfast was great with the delicious cinnamon rolls and other tempting choices as well. We plan to stay here again if traveling back to this area.

This renovated motel is the nicest place you'll find in a remote area and the service is top notch. The bathrooms are still small but immaculately clean. We were delighted by the delicious homemade pastries in a nice continental breakfast. The owners are on site and it was a very pleasant stay after rafting the San Juan River.

we stayed at the Stone Lizard...were on a short motorcycle trip. We were pleasantly surprised when we opened the doors to the rooms. (there were 4 of us). When we pulled in, it looked pretty good, & the girl that checked us in wasn't super friendly, but...as we got into our rooms, & relaxed a bit, we saw her a... More

We had a King room. It was comfortable and clean. The bathroom is small... minimal space to put your make-up, toothpaste, etc. We onlly stayed for a night. The home-made berry danish in the morning was a nice touch. It felt homey. We sat outside last night and enjoyed the evening.

We have stayed twice at the Stone Lizard and look forward to our next stay. The remodeled motel is clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful in answering questions about the area. The owner even brought around fresh cinnamon rolls from a local bakery. They were fabulous. The small size makes for a... More

Very large, clean and comfortable suite for families - 3 large bedrooms, a convenient kitchen, a dining room and a living room! A breakfast is served outside when the weather is nice. The owner is very nice. The location is very quiet.

This motel is older, but we actually enjoy staying at older establishments when we travel. This particular motel is exceptionally run & we were very pleased with everything. The rooms are small--shower/bathroom is pretty cramped, but for two people with a baby it was a convenient size. I'm glad that there was a door between the bedroom & the "living... More

We didn't let the inflated price on TA dissuade us from phoning as we rolled into town a few weeks back. There isn't a good restaurant nearby - but if you're looking for a place to stay this is a great option. We went to the steakhouse in town - housed in an old Pizza Hut/Sizzler type building. Ugh. But... More

Nicely remodeled. About 90% of my room had been re-done with beautiful hard wood floors, new furniture and blinds. I really liked the medicine cabinet in the bathroom, it opened up into a three way mirror. Hand crafted custom metal art pieces and light sconces added to the desert theme. The continental breakfast was a nice surprise. Fresh fruit, juice,... More

We returned to Stone Lizard in June after a one-night stay in January. I think we got the same room. Consistent with my earlier review, the motel is basic, and the owner is friendly and helpful. The biggest shortcoming is nothing the owner can control. There are virtually no restaurants in town, and, not surprising, no place to get a... More
