great place to stay, quiet, historical, wonderfully furnished, very clean and the breakfast is fabulous! Our daughters wedding reception was here outside under the pavilion. Due to crazy south Texas weather, this day was under a flash flood.....the owners were more than helpful and made accomadations to make sure we all stayed dry as possible. This place is just perfect. My husband and I (from the Netherlands but live in Houston) wanted to escape the city for a weekend and found this wonderful house in this peaceful area. The best place where we have stayed this year during our vacations! The rooms were clean beautiful furnished and with spectaculair views on the magnificent gardens (with owls, woodpeckers, squirrels and other animale). I had never heard of this "first capitol of Texas" until this recent trip. The owners, Flem & Sheryl, live next door and you'll never meet a more interesting couple.
