We went to Tyler, TX to take our daughters to a jump rope workshop. We like to stay in Hampton Inn Hotels and this one was just 3 minutes from the workshop location. From the outside it looks old, 2 story building with all rooms facing outside but all rooms are renovated and the lobby as well. Room was clean... More

Room doors face the OUTSIDE! Cars and trucks on the highway going up and down the hill immediately outside the hotel balcony are LOUD. The in-room refrigerator emitted a high pitched howl during my entire stay. Breakfast was those awful folded scrambled egg & cheese processed things. Manager's Reception the night before consisted of a box of Franzia white zinfandel... More

Room was quite nice, clean, fresh, flat screen TV, micro, mini fridge, coffee maker, multiple charger stations and plugs, good heating and a/c... very pleased. The staff were very pleasant, they provided a hot breakfast that was very popular and frankly one of the best breakfasts I've had in a good while. I usually pass on complimentary breakfasts, but it... More

If you typically enjoy Hamptons (as I do), be aware that this is not your typical Hampton experience. It's definitely a take-over, as all of the rooms are accessible outdoors, with no indoor rooms. The first room we were given had no heat - I do have to recognize that the staff was stellar about moving our room to a... More

I give this place an average rating based upon other middle of the road type hotels. Most Hamptons, at least where I'm from, are quite nice and geared toward the business traveler. This particular location is not far south of another location and I kind of wished I had booked at the other one when I pulled in. The doors... More

You get what you pay for, and given that Hampton Inns are pretty close to the bottom of the economy hotel scale, our expectations were not high when we stopped for the night at this one on a recent road trip. Tyler is 10 miles south of I-20 and all the hotels, including this one, seem to be on the... More

This property is old and dated. It did have some nice features, like free wi-fi, but those were cancelled out by the ridiculous ticking coming from the microwave. It sounded like a kitchen timer, tick-tick-tick, quite loudly, all night long. I may have been aggravated by it more because I was sick with the cold, but still. The staff were... More

We were in Tyler for a visit to the University of Texas Health Science Center. Hampton Inn is a little farther from the medical center than some other places, but seemed more central for meals and other necessities. It worked out perfectly. The check-in was quick and painless. I had requested an early one, and they obliged. We were in... More

Nice, clean, quiet, VERY friendly staff. The potatoes on the breakfast were great. I would have preferred having some meat (bacon and/or sausage), but there was a pretty good selection. The proximity to the hospitals was great. I'd defintely stay here again!

I was pretty irritated when I arrived to find this hotel was one of the older hotels that still had doors opening to the outside. The website did not (or I possibly overlooked) specify this. I try to always stay at hotels that have doors opening to the inside of a facility... When I first arrived, the room overwhelming smelled... More
