Three stars doesn't mean anything negative -- just a neutral value. My take: you pay about a La Quinta price for about a Motel 6 room plus unique and beautiful surroundings. That seems like a fair deal. The staff seemed friendly and helpful, and the room was clean. A unique, interesting, fun place. If you need a coffee fix first... More

This is one of those places that you would rather keep to yourself as a secret. However, I think the secret is already out judging from the difficulty to find a vacancy during popular summer months. The courts are a rustic collection of old motor hotel style bungalows and nearby travel trailer campground lots. The jewel in this rusty old... More

My wife and I with our two kids and their friends decided to go camping at Balmorhea State Park. The kids pitched their tents while my wife and I, being old and out of shape, stayed at the little motel they have on the State Park property call the San Solomon Courts. The park has a gigantic pool which is... More

There is no other place to stay quite like San Solomon Spring Courts at Balmorhea State Park. The white adobe motel-style court has charm to burn (and air conditioning!). Each unit has a bedroom and bathroom, and several have kitchenettes that in the fall-winter of 2013 will be removed, so plan accordingly. In the future, the kitchenette will only have... More

We stayed in Room 10 (2 beds/kitchenette). The lodge is old and in need of some updating, but clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you are looking for an inexpensive option with few hotel amenities ,then this is for you. The spring fed pool it what makes this a perfect family destination. The water is clear... More

Great swimming hole. Swimming in the unchlorinated water with the fish is very refreshing. We have been fortune enough to be there when it is not too busy. One side is cemented to give it a pool type feeling while the other side is left natural and is much deeper. last we were there they had a low and high... More

Deduct a point for the uninspired housekeeping, deduct a point for no wi-fi, but then add all the points back in and then some because you're staying IN the park right across from one of the biggest, cleanest, clearest, and finest spring fed swimming pools on Earth. Now on to the lodging: The Courts are actually old "motor courts" from... More

My three kids and I stayed here for one night on our way to Colorado from Texas. We stayed in one of the three-bed, two-room suites for about $85. The rooms were far from luxurious but clean and comfortable and walking distance from the spring, as well as the creek where the kids could see turtles, fish, etc. The only... More

This is a beautiful state park. The rooms are in dire need of renovation. Due to budget restraints and the state of Texas not prioritizing where they spend available funds the rooms here go lacking. The last time we stayed there was a problem with mice climbing into the bed in the middle of the night. Sorry I can not... More

Just spent the weekend here at the San Soloman Courts in Balmorhea State Park. Got a room with two beds and kitchenette. I was told they don't supply anything, so we packed in what we needed. The rooms are older and worn, but were very clean and comfortable. The grounds were very quiet and relaxing. This is the most convenient... More
