Went to the chili cookoff. This is the place to stay because of the amazing views from the restaurant balcony and it has the coldest beer in terlingua. It is also very close to the cookoff, maybe a 1/2 mile at the most ,and walking distance to everything else. Would'nt stay anywhere else. This is the place if you want... more

I have to marvel at some of the other reviewers unrealistic expectations. This place is Terlingua, the Big Bend area of Texas. The door is not air tight because it doesn't have to be. The patio is made of steel, I would drive my truck onto it. And Terlingua is on 'island time' so get used to it. The "greasy... more

I have stayed at the El Dorado Hotel many times and this last visit was the best. They are under new management and they will go out of their way to make you feel at home. Their restaurant and High Sierra Bar are a great place to relax and have the best food and coldest beer in the area. The... more

Stayed one night. Price was right $59. The room was very basic...think Motel 6 does a dorm room. Positives: large room, clean (old, but clean), 5 minute walk from downtown Terlingua ghost town and 5 min ride from all the outdoor activities providers, firm mattress. Negatives: No smoke detector in room (there was a fire extinguisher), flimsy door, horrible pillows.... more

I stayed here for about 3 days. I noticed that alot of things in the other reviews, seemed to be fixed. The patio was great, and the room was clean. It was the sort of place you might see willy nelson at. The food was great, and the drinks were cold. I'm glad i picked this hotel. I think the... more

Never got to stay here. Called the week before my reservation and learned they had no record of it or the credit card number I gave them to guarantee the reservation. Caused me to scramble to find other accommodations. Glad I checked on it - the person who took my reservation did not sound too bright. The person who took... more

We enjoyed our stay here and found the staff at the bar to be very friendly. Although we did not eat in the restaruant, we were told by many of the locals that the foood was the best in town. The room was clean and the price was reasonable. No, it was not luxury, but if you are looking for... more

My young son and I stayed two nights here over this past Thanksgiving Holiday. I waited way too late to book a room during this popular time for Big Bend National Park, so this was the only place with availability that was still close to the park. I would say that it was clean, but the first room we stayed... more

This "hotel" is way overpriced. We were charged $140 for a room with a king bed, sofa, tiny fridge, tiny microwave, shower and tub. The mattress was hard as a rock, the balcony was wobbly, and there was a broken chimenea on the balcony. The concrete on the stairs is all chipped and broken. This room was worth, maybe, $50.00... more

I can't imagine the room was any better than any of the other motel choices, and it was 2x the cost of the other place I checked. the entire property had a very "home made" feel about it--home made by someone who had never built a building before, that is. the room was not what I would call "clean"; there... more
