I had to admit it was not as worse as I thought it would be. Since I had read so many bad reviews in this site, in order to sleep comfortably, we brought our own sheets, pillows and comforters. We were glad that we did. You don't really need to if you are not very particular about it. We normally... More

We stayed in the Mission Lodge section of this hotel. It is across the street from the main facility. As many of the reviews have indicated, it's a bit tired and worn. They are also pretty stingy with toiletries as we only had one bar of soap. The location is good. Otherwise, if you're really expecting a "resort" you'll be... More

Terlingua (along with Study Butte and Terlingua Ghost Town) is a tiny town with a population of about 1000 people. It just about 3 miles outside the Big Bend National Park which itself is not a popular park. Some of the other parks in the country get more than 30 times more visitors in a year. There are few (if... More

We stayed here one night, before heading into the Chisos Basin for some hiking. The motel has friendly staff, and the rooms are not bad for the price, as they are pretty much standard motel rooms. some of the rooms are across the road though which can be a problem if you are one side of the road and your... Rooms were nice, but a bit pricey for the quality of the room! I don't see why they are called a resort? Mattresses were very hard, and comfortable at all. Toilets took a long time flush. Carpets were old and worn.

Big Bend Resort and Adventures is a grandiose name given to a collection of dusty properties in Study Butte/Terlingua Texas. It includes a decent Motor Inn, a decent Cafe, an RV park, a couple of less-than-decent lodging choices, stables, gas station, convenience store, and some guided tours. It is not a RESORT by any stretch of the imagination. Most of... More

There is another review on this site that says stay out of unit 44. I wish I had read it. We drove all day Friday and were grateful to get to our room and go to sleep. As soon as we opened the door to unit 44, we could smell that a dog had been in it recently. We put... More

In our travels, we have stayed at many no star motels that are basic, priced accordingly, and clean. Since the Misson Motel across the highway is a a part of the Big Bend Resort, they put us in room 13, a pet room---- after the pet fee, it was well over $90.00 and it is a real dump -- pictures... We stayed in the pop-up camper section of the campground which was adequate. We had water and electric hook-up and the bathroom/showers were clean and close. The staff at check-in and check-out were all very friendly and helpful.

This is a case of managing one's expectations. From reading some reviews here, I was slightly worried about staying at this establishment. Let me assure you I was wrong. This is not a five-star hotel and nor should you expect one given the remote location. The room was very clean, the bedding fresh, and the staff very friendly and helpful.... More
