Made our reservations after seeing this place featured on Texas Country Reporter, so glad we did... This is the last weekend the Mansion will be open for business under current inn keeper, Kaci. She brings the true charm of this unique property to life and we felt right at home. This place will not carry the same charm and tranquility... More

Some of us loved it, some not so much. This is undoubtedly the most unusual place I have ever slept. The room was large and comfortable and the innkeeper in fun to chat with, but the bathroom was a small step above using a tree. Now for the details of the bathroom which is shared with other guests and with... More

This is not your typical hotel. Don't arrive looking for the hallway with a row of numbered doors, ice and vending down the hall, TV with free HBO, ect. Stay here to truley experience the Big Bend / Terlingua area. In the morning take a cup of coffee or tea out to the Spanish style porch and sip it beneath... More

We loved it. After endless nights of chains, conventional Ma and Pa's and a few stuffy B & B's , this was a pleasurable, trippy alternative. The amenities wee there. Good bed, clean, lots of room, engaging hostess. As far as a shared bathroom, you don't care or it's a deal killer. The place has para normal action (friendly) and... More

My wife and I planned a trip to Terlingua to get away a bit and chill (and I wanted to do some mountain biking). We had also planned to meet some friends we had not seen in many years (who also stayed) No radios, no tv's, no sirens or barking dogs in the night. Cover up with a blanket of... More

Having lived in Terlingua 40 years ago, I was worried that I would be disappointed that the area would have undergone changes, but all the things I loved about the Big Bend are still the same...beautiful sunsets, big skies, and fantastic views. Upstairs at the Mansion was a great place to stay! My husband and I stayed in the downstairs... More

I booked the downstairs room for our lodging during my husband's surprise birthday trip to Big Bend. I will never forget his reaction as we pulled up! He is very into ecclectic and old...and Upstairs at the Mansion fit him to a tee! It was quiet, remote, safe, comfortable...and the porch made for some great chess-playing under the stars! Kaci... Happened upon this by stopping at India's for breakfast. (loved the veggie breakfast burrito). Talking with locals who steered us to the Mansion. Magical. Quiet. Peaceful. Loved it. Wish I were there now.

The hotel is rough and rugged, yet cozy and quaint. I could not have asked for anything that would have better exemplified the spirit of this old ghost town.

We stayed at the Mansion during our honeymoon after a day spent in Big Bend and I couldn't have been more excited about staying in Terlingua—the idea of spending the night in a ghost town mansion sounded secluded and spooky. The experience did not prove to be uncanny at all, however it was relaxing and lovely. The rooms have been... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This unique one-room hotel, is found in the center-piece of the Terlingua Ghost Town. Built in 1909 out of rock and adobe, the mansion was home to the owner of the Chisos Mining Co., Howard E. Perry. Situated on a limestone hill overlooking the Ghost Town, with commanding views of the Chisos Mountains, the mansion has 22 inch walls downstairs, and 14 1/2 inch walls upstairs. The addition on the South side of the mansion, which your room is located, was built in 1912, and has been restored to it's original condition on the interior.
