I'll give it 2 out of 5 stars because the lady I spoke to on the phone prior to our arrival (who was not Shirley) was really nice and polite. Shirley however, was the polar opposite. She was rude on the phone (we called her the day of our arrival to get directions), and when we arrived, she was literally... More

Once again we stayed at the Chisos Mining Company Motel in Study Butte, Texas while visiting Big Bend National and State Parks. As always, the cabins were very clean and well furnished with cooking utensils and dishes. We cook and eat here at the cabin instead of eating all our meals out. The rooms are pretty basic with clean beds,... More

Stayed here one night in late December. It was not at all hard to find. There are just not that many roads (paved, at least) and businesses to get confused by in this very remote location! The front desk was friendly. The property made me think of some well-worn, double-wide mobile homes that I’ve been in, but chopped up into... More

We found the room very dark and "dingy" feeling, with a strong odor of kerosene. We would have relocated, but rooms were scarce in that area, so we felt stuck. And the recommendation for a restaurant had to be the worst one for miles around.....very dirty, poor service, poor quality of food. Next morning we were happy to find breakfast... More

Friendly and welcoming this is basic but acceptable comfortable lodging within easy reach of Big Bend. Do not expect new nor fancy. Expect clean and basic lodging with working TV and AC. It really added color to our stay and while it might not be everyone cup of tea we liked this place.

There is absolutely not ONE surprise about this place! They are extremely honest in their advertising - and I won't ever stay anywhere else when I visit Big Bend! The motel is a simple, clean, basic hotel, however, they have thrown in little touches like bath products, extra towels for you to use to clean off the desert dust! The... More

Lodging in or near Big Bend National Park is hard to come by. No rooms were available in the Park or at two other motels in Study Butte, but this little no frills motel was a pleasant surprise. I stayed three nights. It was inexpensive ($78.54), clean, and an ideal base for my explorations in Big Bend. The staff was... More

Stayed 4 nights in one of the cabins. Very clean and comfortable. No complaints whatsoever. Convenient to stores, restaurants, and parks. Couldn't have asked for better. Would defiantly recommend this motel. Thanks Chisos Mining Company for a wonderful stay!

It is extremely easy to find. It is very quiet. The front desk staff is wonderful. The beds are comfy and clean. There is lots and lots of piping hot water. The bathroom is clean. The price is good for this area. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
