My boyfriend and I stayed there in December of 2011. We had a wonderful time staying in the room behind the main house. We love trains and collect the memorabilia associated with trains as the owners. The memorabilia was fantastic. The owners were very nice and friendly. Breakfast was like a home meal with family and delicious. Would love the... More

Had a great one-night stay with my girlfriend. Really enjoyed it. Great hospitality and accommodations. Enjoyed Smithville and hiking in the state park. I did hear the train at night but it was not a big deal. I recommend this spot. Good price/value. Easy to get to. Fun get-away. More

High points: Microfiber sheets on the bed are GREAT. I need some of these. Breakfast is very good, not great, albeit offered quite late at 9 a.m. with no other options. Buddy & Carter, the proprietor's dogs, are very cute. Low points: Pillows should be thrown out and replaced. They are just too hard if you have to put your... More

I stayed here during October a previous year. The facilities are very comforting as you lounge and relax. All decor is true to the period and adds lots of warmth to your ambiance. The breakfast was very good and the innkeeper was very hospitable. The reservation was made for in the home but a large group booked after us and... More

We recently stayed at the Katy House for the weekend and had a great time! Sally & Bruce (the owners) were so accommodating - everything from dinner recommendations and reservations, setting us up a place to play cards at night, homemade chocolate chip cookies every day, and a wonderful breakfast each morning. There is lots of train memorabilia to look... More

My friend and I stayed here and we really enjoyed the visit. Breakfast was out of this world as well as the enjoyable company. The liveliest place in town was Huebers and they seemed to be having fun there. We took a walk around the entire area and it was very quiet. We toured the town before leaving and there... More

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Katy House B&B. Bruce and Sally Blalock made our first time staying at a bed & breakfast a wonderful experience. We were warmly welcomed and the overall atmosphere was very relaxing. Breakfast both mornings was a real treat with the yummy casseroles, fresh fruit & great coffee. The delightful conversations... Our room was across the street from a very loud bar that played music until midnight. Between that, the train whistle and the backyard "security light" (were we in an unsafe area?) lighting up the room as if it were midday we barely slept a wink. The woman who owns the house was very nice and we enjoyed her 2... More

I was disappointed that we could not turn the back yard light off when she called and said her room was too bright. It is a “dusk-till-dawn” light that illuminates the stairs in the back yard for the safety of guests in the outside rooms. I will try to make the room darker by putting a curtain over the antique... Going to the Katy house is like going to visit long lost friends in Smithville Texas. We arrived on a Friday evening around 6:30. Bruce and Carter ( the dog) greeted us and gave us a short tour of the house and our room. The room was very large, clean and well equipped. The bathroom had a footed tub and... More
