A welcomed combination of the rigor in excellence one expects from a classic hotel with a very relaxing atmosphere. Rooms are bigger than anything you will see in Europe, staff is very friendly, the garden is lovely, the pool and sauna (recommended) are very pleasant (with a view to the close by black forest) with no extra costs. The restaurant... More

Standing at the foot of the Black Forest, in the pleasent village of Glottertal, you can find this classic hotel. We stayed in the building opposite to the reception. Rooms were spacious (if not huge by european standards), service was ok (but not excellent, especially by one of the reception employees - for example we were never informed about the... More

I travel. I have stayed in many fine hotels and eaten in renowned restaurants. When I have business any where in the southwestern part of Germany I will choose this hotel every time. The hotel itself is a relaxing, well appointed, friendly hotel in the heart of wine country. The country side is beautiful for a couple or a family... More

Searching on the Internet we found this hotel to use as our base for a motorcycle trip in Schwarzwald. This hotel is a family owned hotel in the small town of Glottertal in the Schwarzwald, a town also known for the mid 1980: s German TV-series "Schwarzwaldklinik". The hotel is located close to the town centre and the church, which... More

We had a two night stay at Hirschen and had a great time. It is a traditional German style hotel: a bit old-fashioned but very clean and everyone was very friendly & helpful. It was one of the cheapest hotels that we stayed in during our trip through Germany, but we never had the feeling that it was a cheap... More

This is a nice hotel, and ideal for an overnight between Central or Southern Europe and the Channel ports. It's an easy day's drive to Zeebrugge or Calais and only just off the motorway. But the rooms vary a great deal. I had problems finding anyone in reception on a Saturday afternoon. There was no bell to ring and no... More
