The redecoration is unsympathetic. This hotel mast have been grand before, but now feels dull and compromised. The new room decor is supposed to be modern and minimalistic, but in fact is just plain and a bit cheap. Bathroom was horrible, bright green tiles. I always find it frustrating when hotels favour design over comfort, appearance over substance. The NH Victoria Palace is the typical example of all this. Rooms offer minimalistic design that looks OK if not cheap, but lack comfort with poor beddings, uncomfortable seatings and poor soundproof. I stayed in this place in Winter 2003. It came as recommendation by a colleague and had good reviews in travel guides.
