We were very pleasantly surprised by this place, which is steeped in character. We had not expected such an interesting and character-filled hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous and dinner, which was excellent, was served by very charming staff. The rooms are rustic in style and very clean. Almagro itself is fabulous, and wel worth a visit. Will... more

I have to ask whether our friend from Tel Aviv who reviewed this hotel on April 19 2009 stayed in the same hotel! We have stayed in at least 21 paradors and visited quite a few more. The original part of the hotel was a 16thCentury convent which was been considerably extended in the same style and it is impossible... more

The most neglected parador we've been to. The room was small and stuffy, and the whole place looked shabby like the town surrounding it. The restaurant was no good surprise either. After experiencing other lovely paradores around Spain - it was disappointing. We stopped there as it was on our route, but there is hardly any reason to visit this... more

Finding and parking was no problem. Plenty of spaces. Reception on the ball and courteous. Room overlooked fig tree courtyard and was large. One thing that is normal in Paradors of this type is the polished tiled floors with a silly mat that is potentially lethal for slipping on. Also another annoyance is the bath/shower arrangement where in order to... more

The Parador of Almagro. Easy drive - just 2 hours from Barajas in Madrid. We chose this stop as a place to unwind after the trip & to move into a holiday mode. The Parador is in a 16th Century San Franciscan monastery right in the middle of the town - 4 blocks from the Plaza Major. It is 2... more

Needed a place to stop in Castilla La Mancha during our trip in October and booked this hotel through the Parador website after reading about how nice it was. Arrived in Almagro late in the day. First pleasant surprise was finding the Parador without too much difficultly, but this was surpassed by the surprise of it's spacious free car park.... more

We stayed here in July 2003 and found it really beautiful. A converted convent with 14 interior courtyards this is a haven of peace. Lovely modern rooms with lots of azuelos (tiles), amazing hallways with art and antiques everywhere. Good restaurant with local specialities and excellent wines. Friendly staff, although one waitress was only nice to our daughter (typically Spanish).... more
