My wife and I stayed for two nights at the Melia Trujillo in mid-May 2008 on our tour of the renaissance towns of Extremadura and Castile & Leon. The hotel is based on a very symphathetic restoration of the 16th Century Convent of San Antonio and is situated just on the edge of the old town of Trujillo and a... more

Nothing but good things to say about this hotel in a nicely converted convent. The room I had, and the public rooms, are all very well appointed. Friendly service - eg at breakfast the waiter, rather than asking for my room number, asked me if I was Senor Redlentil - a very nice touch. Trujillo is a tiny town, so... more

A hotel which looks average from the outside but ouzes class inside. A hot buffet breakfast which should cater for all tastes. Trujillo main square is a delightful place to dine and so we took only one evening meal in the hotel but that was excellent too. The location of the hotel is perfect for anyone intending to visit the... more

Excellent hotel and very good value if you get one of the many offers available on the web. Beautiful conversion of the original convent (you can see photos of the conversion work on the walls). Attentive staff, good bedrooms and breakfast. Pool is fairly small but fine for a cooling dip. You may need it - the temperature got into... more

We stayed a week at the Melia Trujillo and did not want to leave. Very comfortable and large room with excellent bathroom. Decor and facilities were first class, and staff were friendly, helpful and spoke enough English. Breakfast was very good - there was a wide choice from a buffet. We ate in the restaurant twice and on both occasions... more

We were very pleasantly surprised that 80 Euro a night got us rooms in this lovely hotel. The amenities were great (pool, fully equipped room, comfortable beds) and the location was perfect for exploring this charming town. The rooms had climate control and were very very quiet (despite a wedding at the hotel the night we were there). You are... more

Trujillo is a wonderful spot. If you are in the area and looking for a reasonable priced room in a beautiful building then you can do no wrong by staying here. The hotel was restored from a derelict shell of an old convent about 4 years ago. Our double room for 65 euros per night (including breakfast) was of a... more

re. the nobody spoke English comment. Not fair. I was shown round by the manager who speaks perfect English. It's a nice hotel, with great glassed in atrium courtyard and cafe bar. Swimming pool and sun deck good too, and everything is styled with judicious contemporary good taste. For my money beats the parador on all counts except location, where... more
