The birthplace of mr Orellana 5 rooms around a nice courtyard with lots of flowers, trees and birds well decorated rooms And a very personal service. It is rather difficult to get their by car but dont worry ,one phonecall to the hotel and they... More

This is an asolutely astonishing hotel. It was the home of Orellana the explorer who "discovered" the Amazon in the 1400s. It has just 4 double rooms so it is like staying in someone's home and indeed you are told to treat it as such when you arrive, having first been guided in through the very narrow streets by Jose.... The advice from the owners when I booked was to keep driving uphill in old Trujillo and call them if I needed help the hotel. In fact, typing the address into the sat nav did the trick. The entrance difficult to find - but it's one door up from the Hotel Chavas. Once Jose took us through the ancient front... More

WE visited this lovely small inn/hotel recently, enjoying two beautifully decorated rooms in the former home of Orellana (the discoverer of the Amazon). The hotel has exquisitely decorated public rooms, including frescoes of the family tree of the Orellana family. Both of our rooms were beautifully decorated in a charming style; with comfortable modern baths. The private garden and pool... More

Like the other reviewers, we had an excellent stay in Hotel Casa de Orellana. The hotel is really a house, which was originally part of a castle abd staying there is like staying in someone's home. It is very tranquil with a delightful patio and pool. The house is beautifully decorated in excellent taste with a host who was very... More

Wonderful atmospheric old palace where the explorer francisco orrelana was born a cousin of pizzaro. This has been beatifully restored and all mod cons. Our room was large with a very efficient shower but choose one of the rooms overlooking the pool terrace. From the terrace you can see the beautiful church Santa Marta next door. You are right in... Staying at the Hotel Casa de Orellana is like living in your own16th century Casa. Sure the hotel has been renovated, has all the modern conveniences and a staff that will jump through hoops for you, but the feelings emanating from the ancient wall, floors, ceiling and furniture can hardly be duplicated anywhere. There are beautiful quiet sitting rooms perfect... More

Probably the best hotel experience of my life. Set in the old town of Trujillo - which is a delight in itself - this converted palace offers grace, peace, and easy access to all the old town's memorable places and restaurants. Absolutely delightful staff, who could not do enough for us. I can't wait to go back to this lovely... More

This is simply a wonderful place. As advised, we called when we arrived in town and a few moments later the manager appeared on his scooter and escorted us up the hill to the hotel which is a 15th century palace and birthplace of Orellana, the discoverer of the Amazon. We parked right at the door, our cases were taken... More
