We stayed at La Lancha for two nights in the middle of our honeymoon (10 nights in Guatemala and Belize). The service was excellent. Since we were there in rainy/slow season, we were the only guests the first night and were highly catered to. They upgraded our room for free to the lakeview casita. The food was good. However, they... more

Location is exceptional. Views from the casita balcony across Lake Peten Itza to rain forest on the other shore was stunning. Waking to the call of Howler Monkeys, the exotic trees and smells of the forest below, it felt like you could be in Jurassic park. This hotel is very efficient and being very small, guests are treated as individuals,... more

La Lancha is hidden away (perhaps too much so for some) but utterly charming. Guests can take kayaks out onto the lake or swim in the pool. Wines are all from Fracis Ford Coppola's own list and are excellent. The staff are very friendly and the service is just right. more

Staying in elegant La Lancha – two nights in our case – is a unique ‘away-from-it-all’ experience. The hotel is built on a steep slope on the N side of Lake Peten. There were 59 steps up from our room to the (small but elegant) pool and a further 53 to the bar, so this is not an hotel for... more

First the positives: beautiful view of the lake set among the forest. Charming and romantic, can use the hotel canoe in the lake for sunset views in the water. Besides going to Tikal, go also to Yaxha. These are absolutely beautiful ruins in the middle of the forest, surrounded by two lakes. Definitely worth it. Negatives: Book any tours you... more

La Lancha is a great hotel however it wasn't really what we wanted. The service is very hand-on-foot silver service which isn't really what we like. The rooms are very nice but not amazing and the view of the forest is lovely. Rooms are kind of noisy however. You are joined with a neighbour hut and you can hear a... more

My husband and I spent 3 nights at La Lancha, which exceeded our expectations. We drove a rental car from Belize which was quite the experience! La Lancha is about 2 hours from the border at Benque Viejo del Carmen. We chose La Lancha for its proximity to Tikal. It's about an hour away by car. La Lancha is a... more

While not yet quite up to the standard of Coppola's other resorts, this is simply a magnificent place to stay. It is a fantastic base for visiting Tikal or any number of other ruins or just canoeing or boating on the lake. Provided you don't mind the steps, the extra money for the lake view units is well worth spending.... more

La Lancha was great. As a Francis Ford Coppala property it was quite a bit simpler and rustic then his four star lodges in Belize. The price reflected this as La Lancha was moderate in price for both lodging and meals. Service was great in all respects. Airport transfers to and from can be arranged by the management. Most guests... more
