Good heavens, this is far better than we expected. At last, after half a dozen hotels, a hotel in Central America that offers a stunning room that might fetch $800+ per night in the Far East. It was in the newly opened C-block - a cottage with classy fittings, fabulous flooring, a double-bed, proper lighting, walk-in shower, separate WC and... More

Rooms were huge and the shower much the same. Enjoyed the food in the restaurant and the view over the lake at breakfast is gorgeous. I enjoyed seeing the crocodiles and turtles whilst eating my bacon and eggs. The staff seemed a bit tired of the guests but no real complaints. I'd stay there again. Too busy sight seeing to... This hotel is placed in a nature reserve With the possibility to see Wildlife as crocodiles and deers, but it is very isolated from urban life. It is a popular hotel for big tourist Groups. There is a swimming pool area. One has to walk a bit from the rooms to the reception area and restaurant area, and it is... More

This hotel is in a lovely setting right on a lake a little way outside Flores; it has some wildlife (including a crocodile in the lake) and good birdlife; there are walking trails but beware the 'long' trail is indeed long: over 15km which we didn't realise until we had set off! It would actually help if they gave you... More

While visiting the Tikal region of Eastern Guatemala, we stayed yprwice nights at this gem in the jungle. Don't expect marble floors or gourmet resturants. Distinctive rooms set ups. Basic but you'll have everything you'll need to relax and enjoy the quiet of the lagoon and nature. Food was basic, service very friendly and attentive. After hiking through the humid... More

Rooms are all very clean and comfortable, with a fridge full of cold drinks and AC. No TV, but I love that!! The place is very Eco friendly, yet lacks no comfort. Retaurant is good and the service is great. Guatemalans are all very friendly and strive to serve and make your stay special. Order the Guatemala Style tacos with... More

The Villa Maya is a lovely hotel with beautiful grounds and a large, inviting pool. The breakfast buffet is delicious and the omelet chef can make a mean egg-white omelet. The orange juice was fresh and the service was excellent. The rooms are spaced out in buildings, 4 to a building - 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs. Stroll the grounds... More

Super stay here, beautiful gardens and pool. Loved the birds and the monkeys all around. Food was also nice and the staff very helpful. Here you really feel like you are in the jungle. The rooms were nice and spacious and I had an excellent night sleep, despite worrying about snakes! Thoroughly recommend.

What a place to celebrate my 60th birthday. We had a standard room in 'block' 7 on the first floor. We had been in the room moments when we saw a crocodile on the bank in front of us. A lesson learned when hurrying to 'snap' it was, if the paths are wet be very careful as they are very... More
