While visiting the Tikal region of Eastern Guatemala, we stayed yprwice nights at this gem in the jungle. Don't expect marble floors or gourmet resturants. Distinctive rooms set ups. Basic but you'll have everything you'll need to relax and enjoy the quiet of the lagoon and nature. Food was basic, service very friendly and attentive. After hiking through the humid... More

Rooms are all very clean and comfortable, with a fridge full of cold drinks and AC. No TV, but I love that!! The place is very Eco friendly, yet lacks no comfort. Retaurant is good and the service is great. Guatemalans are all very friendly and strive to serve and make your stay special. Order the Guatemala Style tacos with... More

The Villa Maya is a lovely hotel with beautiful grounds and a large, inviting pool. The breakfast buffet is delicious and the omelet chef can make a mean egg-white omelet. The orange juice was fresh and the service was excellent. The rooms are spaced out in buildings, 4 to a building - 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs. Stroll the grounds... More

Super stay here, beautiful gardens and pool. Loved the birds and the monkeys all around. Food was also nice and the staff very helpful. Here you really feel like you are in the jungle. The rooms were nice and spacious and I had an excellent night sleep, despite worrying about snakes! Thoroughly recommend.

What a place to celebrate my 60th birthday. We had a standard room in 'block' 7 on the first floor. We had been in the room moments when we saw a crocodile on the bank in front of us. A lesson learned when hurrying to 'snap' it was, if the paths are wet be very careful as they are very... More

A very charming and unique hotel in a jungle setting. Rooms are in a cluster of four, two up, two down. Both have balconies and good views, if on the lake side. There are walking trails and parrots are very interesting. This is definitely not a "typical" hotel and is an unique experience. There is a walk to the restaurant... More

This hotel is a little bit of comfort in the jungle. The rooms are magnificent. The balconies all sit above the water for crocodile spotting. The parrot housing was a nice touch too. The bar was great and very reasonable. The restaurant setting was beautiful - you could watch the sunset and sunrise. The pool was ok. The chairs were... More

Lynn and I and 8 friends recently did a10 day Guatemala tour together. We spent two nights at the Villa Maya which is located in a 67 acre nature reserve overlooking a lake. Our unit was one of 4 in a safari like accommodation. It was spacious with two double beds. The grounds are attractive with a convenient walk to... More

We stayed at Villa Maya for 2 nights during a tour of Guatemala and Belize. Booked through Imagine Latin America we chose it because of it's location en route to Tikal but it was other qualities that we will remember. The hotel complex is built on the shore of a lake, the accommodation blacks are cleverly designed so that every... More
