Super stay here, beautiful gardens and pool. Loved the birds and the monkeys all around. Food was also nice and the staff very helpful. Here you really feel like you are in the jungle. The rooms were nice and spacious and I had an excellent night sleep, despite worrying about snakes! Thoroughly recommend.

What a place to celebrate my 60th birthday. We had a standard room in 'block' 7 on the first floor. We had been in the room moments when we saw a crocodile on the bank in front of us. A lesson learned when hurrying to 'snap' it was, if the paths are wet be very careful as they are very... More

A very charming and unique hotel in a jungle setting. Rooms are in a cluster of four, two up, two down. Both have balconies and good views, if on the lake side. There are walking trails and parrots are very interesting. This is definitely not a "typical" hotel and is an unique experience. There is a walk to the restaurant... More

This hotel is a little bit of comfort in the jungle. The rooms are magnificent. The balconies all sit above the water for crocodile spotting. The parrot housing was a nice touch too. The bar was great and very reasonable. The restaurant setting was beautiful - you could watch the sunset and sunrise. The pool was ok. The chairs were... More

Lynn and I and 8 friends recently did a10 day Guatemala tour together. We spent two nights at the Villa Maya which is located in a 67 acre nature reserve overlooking a lake. Our unit was one of 4 in a safari like accommodation. It was spacious with two double beds. The grounds are attractive with a convenient walk to... More

We stayed at Villa Maya for 2 nights during a tour of Guatemala and Belize. Booked through Imagine Latin America we chose it because of it's location en route to Tikal but it was other qualities that we will remember. The hotel complex is built on the shore of a lake, the accommodation blacks are cleverly designed so that every... More

Villa maya will tick all the amenities boxes. It has a big pool, a restaurant, a bar, wifi, aircon etc etc. But, and it is a very big BUT, it has no heart and no soul. It is corporate and formulaic aimed at coach tours to Tikal and nothing else. It is isolated and there is not much to do.... More

Stayed here for 2 nights in the middle of the rain forest. The rooms were spacious and the beds comfortable. All rooms looked out onto the water. Different animals could be heard and seem throughout the day and night. There was a nice pool and an outdoor eating area. Food was good.

This hotel is located in a very remote area next to a beautiful lake. You felt like you were staying in a tree house with all the wooden walk ways in every direction in the middle of the jungle. The rooms were extremely spacious, but very basic - no luxury here. There are many wild birds which added to experience.
