Had a great stay here in April 2009. Surprised it has so few recent reviews, so here is an up to date one. Location, 15 mins taxi Flores/airport in secluded location. Wondered where they were taking us, as the entry is down a rocky old private road, but on arrival, is a just lovely peaceful haven from the heat, dust... more

I emailed this place and was booked at another of their chain of hotels by the staff member that responded to my email. Only after I corrected her did she finally get the reservation for the right hotel (at double the price 55 to 105!). We left for our trip, and one week before our stay at Villa Maya I... more

We stayed here for two nights in December and just loved it. The place is in the rainforest outside of Flores town, about 15 minutes. It has a very secluded feel with a great sense of design. Very modern in a 70s kind of style. Very interesting layout. We stayed in a room that was a new cottage, farthest away... more

Stayed 3 nights at the Villa Maya. Nice hotel. Clean rooms. Very courteous staff. The food at their restaurant was very good. The location is in the middle of the jungle so you will hear howler monkeys, lots of birds, and insects. The scarlet macaws are a sight to see. There is internet access available at the front desk. No... more

This place is incredible.. The lagoons, the wild animals and the view is just incredible. I had a howler monkey come right up to me by the pool while i was tanning! I would definatively reccomend this place to anyone wanting to relax and enjoy nature! They have a buffet which is fantastic and this is located not too far... more

We spent two nights here on a Caravan tour. It is really a NEAT place! It was designed beautifully--an open air lobby and dining room beside a wonderful (but deep) pool. It is surrounded by the jungle and two lagoons. The rooms are located 4 to a building. Nice size and clean. Food was good and staff friendly. We saw... more

The Villa Maya was one of the prettiest places I've ever stayed. It is surrounded by a lagoon and has nature trails to walk on to see the water and wildlife. The check-in desk is entirely open-air, quite unusual, as are the dining areas because you are in a jungle area that can be extremely hot and steamy. The food... more

Tikal is a great place to Visit , however only stay 1-2 days as there is not much else here. The hotel was very nice on the lake, beautiful surroundings. Good food also. Not in town so this was a problem, had to walk or get taxi to town. Easy to get a shuttle to tikal very cheap, if you... more

We stayed 2 nights at the Villa Maya as part of a 14 day 16 person group tour of Guat/Belize/Honduras/el Salvador. We have stayed in the Flores area before: a stay at the Camino Real and in El Remate at the La Mansion del Pajaro y el Serpente. Villa Maya is situated on a nice lake with an abudance of... more

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in January 2006 as part of a Central America tour. The hotel was our base for visiting Yaxha and Tikal. We enjoyed the Villa Maya very much. It has a terrific setting on a lake with a wildlife sanctuary all around – birdwatching was excellent right from our room and from... more
