Such a beautiful splendid home! Attended a wedding there several years ago and the event was spectacular. Sorry to hear that the B&B is no longer available, but I imagine the new owners are truly enjoying the place!

The owners were relocated elsewhere in the state and this is now a private residence. McKinney now has only two B&Bs- the Dowell House and the McKinney Bed & Breakfast. For more lodging options in McKinney, visit other TripAdvisor pages or VisitMcKinney.com.

We stayed here for a weekend and it was fantastic. The breakfasts were to die for, the rooms amazing, and the innkeeper was just awesome. She has great recommendations on places to go in the area and dining options. The house itself is like a very comfy museum. Tons of history in every niche. We mentioned we would be taking... More

Our stay was pleasant. Everything about this place is antiquated which gave it a unique character. Karen was a great help to make my 1st wedding aniversary great.

If you like quiet, relaxing and freedom this is your place. Make dinner reservations for a local diner as most of them fill up quick (inside if during the summer). The local shops and antique stores are wonderful but about half close at 5 on Saturday and are closed on Sunday so if you like to shop stay Friday night... More

This is a lovely property with very clean and well maintained rooms. We stayed in the Heather room and it was quiet and very comfortable. We have stayed in other B&Bs where the bathrooms were perhaps a little old and the showers didn't work well but our room at the Tartan Thistle had a lovely bathroom with an excellent shower.... More

Wow! Karen can cook! This is a Bed & Breakfast that deserves both Capital B's! They have saved a fabulous "painted Lady" with all of its Victorian Splendor plus they provide a delightful and authentic stay in a Texas town loaded with charm. We were so happy to see that McKinney has bloomed where most small towns have floundered. Be... More

My husband and I had a quick get away for his birthday and had a wonderful time! The rooms were beautiful, quiet and comfy and I can't say enough about the yummy breakfast. Would definitely stay again!

My husband and I have stayed at The Tartan Thistle every year for the last three years on our anniversary and have also taken my in-laws for a birthday weekend. Karen and Tom are so sweet and always have great suggestions for places to see and restaurants in the area. They also know so much of the history of the... More
