We enjoyed our stay very much. Originally we are from the area & went down to visit family. Our stay at Renaissance Casa de Palmas was relaxing, peaceful and we learned some things about McAllen history that we didn't know previously. It's great that they are building up an Arts District within walking distance of the hotel. The bed was... more

There are quite a few positives about this hotel. First, nothing in the hotel itself is much higher class than what I've experienced at other hotels in bigger cities. However, a lot of small things made this my most enjoyable stay in recent memory. There were no cons to this hotel. The pros were: hallway access directly from free multistory... more

We love this hotel! This is our 3rd stay here during the 4th of July weekend. They have a parade that runs right in front of the hotel. The rooms were clean and the staff was excellent. They remembered us from 2 years ago! Went to the pool for the first time. It was nice and shady in the morning... more

Other reviews for this hotel are correct... the hotel is many decades old. The negative reviews about the aging hotel being nasty seem very invalid. Yes, the rooms are a little small but the feeling inside the hotel is magnificent if you are a fan of antiques or history. The air conditioner in our room worked better than we could... more

I stay at the Casa de Palmas every time I am in the Valley. I go to attend Palm Society meetings. Its lush and well manicured grounds are the epitome of subtropical South Texas. It is historic, tropical, quaint, luxurious, and out of the way - the perfect place to get away from it all. Haunted? I hope so! I've... more

This is a lovely alternative to a chain hotel at just a slightly higher cost. The Casa de Palmas is an older building in downtown McAllen that has been renovated in Spanish style, with a graceful lobby and an inner courtyard with pool, fountain and lots of seating. Nice bar in the lobby. We paid a little extra for a... more

I always thought of Marriott's Renaissance brand as "a cut above", but this property should not be allowed to use the Renaissance name. Call it something else, since it is a far cry from luxurious. "Charming" translates into "built in 1920 and not renovated very often" and "quaint" translates into "we are a non-smoking property but there are ashtrays on... more

The Casa de Palmas is a good option in a market with limited options. The historic property's good aspects outweigh the not so good. Overall the structure and furnishings are a little worn. However the unique design and layout of the property make up for it. The beds have new linens (not evident on the hotel website) and nice bathrooms.... more

I stayed at the Renaissance Casa de Palmas Hotel for three nights attending a work function. (4/20-4/22) The hotel is very close to the airport making an the travel arrangements easy. Upon check in I asked if they had any rooms available with a balcony. The gentleman said a balcony would cost $40 more than the price of the room... more

We stayed at the Casa De Palmas Hotel in McAllen over the Labor Day weekend for 1 night and had a nice time! There really isn’t too much to do in McAllen however and the hotel isn’t exactly in an area where there is much to see by foot. See 10 photos I took of the hotel/room. We paid $99... more
